Introduction/Definition/etc

 

A little history lesson, as this site started with somethings

many moons ago, to quote a saying, and lots has happened

since, some good, some bad, but surely different than

now in 2013, no?

Hence why a wiki was chosen, and a commercially available one,

supposedly easier than say a Wikipedia

WikiMedia version, not pick on our host(s) PBWiki, now PBWorks,

just noting some history...

Note convention of TitleYYYY changed on this as cyclic nature of the post, and  can't really do

TitleDDYYYY without some number confusion though I  tend to do YYYYMMDD

for sort order over years, which this has tended to go over, long past it's due,

like a midterm, I'm missing now....

Not to worry, School Services for Disabled,  still suck, they were bad then, bad now,

even more hate, discrimination, paper work,

now $1200 worth of testing, it took 5 or so weeks to even tell me that, by email instead of phone,

to tell me what I already know, and is generally known,

I'm disabled, not meaning I can't do anything,  just some areas are problems,

staying on topic, both in and our of class, rather well known...

 

Don't I have some laundry to do, instead of burning off anxiety with writing?

(yeah, that's what I'm calling it...) Or OverEating?  Or being stalked/ harassed

at the grocery store(s)?

March 4rh, 2006?  was when we had a drop in center

conference at a LDS church in Franconia,

the organizing/ disorganizing committee of the On Our Own

of Falls Church (OOOFC, as I would call it, others said

OOOFxCo or similar, tomato, potato, whatever,

I prefer memorable, while most were using dead consumers

to name places, like Laurie Mitchel, whom I'd never met,

others had...)

 

So to kick off the Drop In Center developments for other

parts of the region, others, more than I worked on a conference,

sharing the developments and information about

What Is a Drop In Center, and had speakers and social

time for people to get together with others in their area,

North County, Fairfax, Mid County Fairfax, South County Fairfax,

and lesser size jurisdictions, Alexandria, Arlington, maybe

same of bigger size, Loudoun, and Prince William...

 

March Forth was part of the timing, IIRC.

As in Go Forth and Prosper, Christian Soldiers,

or whatever the religious context, IDK (I Don't Know)

the faith communities were part of it,

as lime McLean Bible doing Accessiblity Conference,

and INoVA Hospital and other hospitals, like state

end up with problems, er. clients, when the services

of the jurisdictions and other related and unrelated

don't provide the services, provide bad services,

or just aren't capable of helping

(Sully Police Station shootings, VA Tech,

and anything else out of region,

recent Connecticut, not so recent Columbine,

Colorado, Aurora, Colorado, Norway, etc)...

 

So MH is the dumping grounds, at times of societal

problems, as certainly the violence doesn't make sense,

so it must be the fact there is mental illness, that

is waht gets the blame,  Kendra's Law in NYC,

forced treatment, when the hate is what the

other people, good upstanding people,

who just get crapped on by people who don't

understand, (read teachers, parents, relatives, administrators,

politicians, government employees, some contractors,

and others who are not Persons With x,y,z)

 

 

Conclusion

 

Summary of experience or similar

 

A quick rant on how people forget, so one of the reasons

why I was wearing the Elmer Fudd type hat in the State

Capital, how soon we forget, some after other crises

said it was on a 5 year cycle, or so,

senselss acts, even good acts like the Drop In Center

or Random Acts of Kindness (thinking of someone

walking around a community college on Valentine's

Day with little gifts, including chocolates, an older woman,

(relative to first time around college age 16-19 year olds)

much appreciated, but just don't eat much chocolate,

cookies, donuts, and other exceptions exist,

either way fake chocolate sometimes helps,

but then again, watch the diet/ food plan,

and sugar intake, as diabetes, type 2 or whatever

restrictions, suggestions, and blood sugar, from

lack of eating, eating sanely, or insanely, might occur,

with normal, or slightly different people,

because in the end we are all people, whether

we want to be or not (homage to the Bard).

How has you life changed, for the good, bad and indifferent,

over the time period, 2004-2013?

 

It might not have been 2006, but just a guess,

as some are not good "historians", so it is sometimes called...

 

Either way, other factors, Politics, Presidents, Governors,

elected officials, non elected officials, providers,

services and other changes, even March Madness,

as we approach another storm, hopefully one of the last

of the season, winter season, here in the Mid Atlantic,

USA, EDT...
