Introduction/Definition/etc
An AldiCantFind2019
starting today (5/15),
for $25 or so,
with bike week,
BTWD on Friday,
BikeToSchoolDay past,
and other stuff,
some relates well
to this entry, some
more tangential,
(don't crash)...

Finding One
Opening day of the sale,
but paying list price,
so no discounts for trying
to make space for the next
AldiCantFind2019
First store I lookeda t,
and didn't want to waste
too much time looking around,
for the bike helmets, i probably
could have waited and found
a colour I like more,
but there are 3-4+ colours
available with a rear light built in,
similar to what I've seen/heard
of with PriceClub/CostCo,
actually a little cheaper, afaict,
will see maybe more about these
later...
Pumps, just got a $5 one the other month
at Walmart,
a smartphone bag, not sure I want,
other stuff is more important,
and some reserve, paying bills,
some went will be late, just to do this,
including some food money for buying
supplies for something just coming out
next _here_...
Transport
Getting it back
on handlebars,
too wide for the back,
as would forget its back there
and ram into something,
but a balancing act,
luckily, i didn't drop it,
probably wouldn't hurt much
more than the box,
and had inner tubes, i could have made
a backpack, carrying type thing
or lash to hands/ bar ends, or something,
but didn't...
Basically not really a portable stand,
but not the biggest and heaviest
I've transported either...
A ParkTools stand ripped out a Duffel bag
going a few blocks from MtRainierBikeCoop
to their local Farmer's Market
maybe 10 years ago
now... (Find link?)
forget pictures, Picasa messed up
by not importing everything into Photos,
and BadEvilGoogle
(financially they could have gotten more to buy
Drive space, family plan, etc,
afaict, imnsho,
ianal, etc...)
Don't have a weight on it,
Manual Tech Data Specs page 14 says
15.4 lbs (7 kg)
might need to do that sometime,
for instance, when i put a coin battery
in a personal scale,
and weigh it, with me,
minimum weights, etc
Missing Part(s)?
A strap type thing was in the manual,
parts list, but not included
Not in photos much, so maybe not all
or errors in the manual?
I thought i was missing a hex nut
for the stand higher/lower twist clamp,
but i looked around and it fell out,
so maybe need to find
some spare parts at a hardware store,
for when that happens again...
Gluing it in place,
probably bad form...
There is a lower one without a handle
and the hex/Allen key for the tray
fits that too..
Quick Release Instead?
Used to the ParkTools
ball joint? quick release to rotate
the head, but not on this home
level model, so need to be more careful,
not do things as much with muscle memory,
besides below, it's not the same,
hobby and home use,
has it's limitations,
but also conveniences,
(rain? distance, not having my
tools and stuff
out with others,
(btw, found my portable tools,
bag change, and broken bag,
and archeological dig,
maybe someone returned?
and other issues...)
PentaPod, not TriPod
Manual says tripod,
but tri is three legs,
this has Five (5),
so theoretically more stable,
but tripping hazard too...
Win some/ lose some,
try not to get hurt,
if used to the other(s)...
Width/ diameter/circumference
Takes up more space?
limited floor area,
making some space for a leg
or three, but 5 takes more,
so not fitting as nicely in the cramped
space available to me, at this time,
Max Diameter/ area numbers probably
would be good to note, for myself,
and maybe others
Stepping on the legs,
there are more
than a ParkTools stand I'm used to,
but own it, so maybe end up spending
more time with this one, will see...
Modified Text
What's Missing?
1 strap?
What Can Be Found?
Odd handlebar type holding thing,
some use a rack type thing,
some straps,
this a thing with two straps on ends?
that i may not use besides trying,
flopping around not that bad,
used to it, more than secured,
but find instances where it's needed?
and learn, since I now own a stand...
What Can Not Be Found?
How To Analyze?
Lenses
Noob
It's a starter,
so maybe not know the difference,
til trying others?
Experienced
It's not a ParkTools,
nor Pedro, nor others
I'm used to
from Coops, etc,
so some muscle memory relearning,
and other issues...
Kids/DisAbled
LegalSleeze mentions
impairments, but not very good language
some have limitations but not severe
enough, or savant to outweigh the
idiot part(s), so not that friendly text/
booklet/lawyers covering there selves
(CYA)...
.
Assumptions
Cheaper is better?
Til you find out why not?
Not everything is a ParkTools,
which are $100-200?
(model and mode/ retail/wholesale/
volunteering discounting differences)
for starters, new, iirc
discounts from volunteering
and could probably have had cheap,
shipping, and learning other ones,
saving trips to volunteer, work on my own,
sadly neglected bike, and stuff
for the last seasons Coops were closed
for the season(s), but will need parts,
supplies,
more tools, etc
to do that,
which is limited financially,
partially because i buy stuff like this,
but keeping above minimum balance,
and juggling, maybe not get overdraft
$35 fee, and other savings,
will see...
Time Limits
Week? or whenever
AldiCantFind2019
gets scarce,
clubs, students, others buying,
and like an exercise bike,
(down to $30, saw 3 then 1,
by the time i decided to buy and
got back there, NONE,
damn,
and AldiAmbiano9In1ProgrammablePressureCooker2019
never got a working replacement, and other
AlFromAlDiSaysNoPhotosOfMerch2019
and other problems,
good news is each store is different,
bad news is each store is different,
YMMV...

15.4 Lbs
(7 kg) check the math?
is a Kilo really more than a pound,
by 2x?)
but relates to metric Litre weight of water,
so might be gallon? how many kilos?
and scale/weigh by balancing,
think of weight of how many gallons of water,
this is like carrying?
I grew up with Standard (SAE, Imperial,
and the US was considering adopting
Metric, and trained some on it,
and never fully implemented,
so internationally, still some issues,
but i do my food weighing in grams,
so learning, by protracted use, too...

Conclusion
Summary of experience or similar
Good so far,
but not used much, just got,
and putting up a place holder,
hypothesis that it's OK for now,
will get used to, and maybe find
longer term flaws,
booklet says home not professional
use, so likely duty cycle and other
issues exist,
ParkTools is the Gold/ really Blue Standard
(Miller similar with WeldingBasics2013 )
because that's what i started with,
but others exist, and cheaper,
easier to get home, closer,
try some other stuff,
etc...
like
HarbourFreight Welder,
Grinder, etc and other stuff
NorthernTools,
other companies exist,
but specialized bike tools
and techniques usually trump
standard tools,
(screwdriver is not a bike lever,
auto pumps blow out
bike and other smaller tires
(volume and speed of pumping?),
or not high enough pressure for Presta,
car tires 30+ PSI, 100+ roadie tires,
etc) and other differences likely
width of thin cone? and
pedal wrenches to get
in between stuff
being yet another(s)...
Discussion
A place for feedback on the page presented
What makes a good home workshop for you?
Remembering to do thing to your own bike?
Like cobbler's kid's shoes?
Once a month enough for open type shop time?
Or just getting around to it,
spending on parts and supplies,
tools, knowledge, different types of
brakes,
tubes, wheels, tires, disc,
hydraulics, etc
eBike, cargo trailer, wheel size, etc
gearing,
wiring, lighting,
cabling,
etc
