Of the hundred plus DMV
pit stops,
I tried (/sampled?) three,
all in Northern Virginia,
the first two maybe friendlier,
and know (of) me better,
the last, and closest to me,
had a young white millennial
attacking woman,
and former full advisory board member
/sigh,
just at or after closing at 9 am,
verbal/emotional attacks
countered by likely law enforcement/
protective services,
Faux/Pseudo,
and/or supervised community service
and return for full term sentencing...
Variations included
Locations:
along linear trail,
near Intersection of Doom/
concrete urban jungle,
county spray/splash park,
in a developers' dungeon
/torture chamber/shooting gallery.
Environmental:
Noise makers,
hooting and hollering,
cheerleading in costumes,
both males and females,
near thorough (sp?) fares
highly visible (marketing?)
and major routes,
but also noisy and bad air quality
at rush hour(s),
the rain getting some pollen,
but bus, diesel, etc fumes,
if tested, likely higher than
one might want to be breathing,
especially if old, out of shape, sick,
pregnant, and/or just tired......
Rarely are bikers celebrated,
mostly berated,
likely for being slow,
dirty, smelly,
old, poor, disabled,
stupid, crazy, oddballs, fringe,
and in the way,
by motards
(using loosely as any petrol fueled greaser)
and others,
but like channel crossings,
polar plunges and tri/marathons
supports and acknowledgement
sometimes may help
keep you going...

signing a waiver (you are a lawyer right?),

Also, how advanced are the rider?
I know rides go from A racing or so

Ironically, no patch kits seen anymore,
Mostly have to have a tube,

but catch-up with some people all in one day, though scatter sites.

Report An Unattended Bike
Gave service (my turn?) in calling in a bicycle left unattended and unlocked
No registration sticker(s)
with at least one flat near a crossroads/trail
Processing was a trap, getting ID, phone, etc, probably should have reported anonymously...
e911 with photos might have helped, had it worked, wifi spotty,, etc
about a half hour plus long wait,
auxiliary police came,
followed me in a new ageish mini van (hybrid?) with back bike rack,
over the no pickup truck sign ped bike bridge (fall thru?)
and "released" me
after using up my free rental time
like I was a perp for reporting something,
and that was after the swarming like two other LEO vehicles,
plain and uniformed poked around,
causing fear, possibly deliberately as intimidation...
Touring Pair
Along a regular commute route,
two young people with quality touring gear,
stopped, seemed to know me,
and/or my bike,
and had attacking likely locals (or gang?) profiteering,
they hadn't done BTWD,
(someone suggest/demanding I should give them my dry extra t shirt???),
and seemed to be looking for something,
from Upstate NY
but not on the Touring (formerly phred) list,
heading a month West towards WVA, (maybe G!I and/or Communities Con?), but knew (of) me/my bike/ tour journals/this?
etc and wanted something,
but after a while seemed help rejecting complainer(s)
and/or kids nearby scamming,
an older pedestrian lady also stopped and talked after a few suggestions,
all not good enough,
so I just left, kept going,
despite the offer for me to go along,
likely just to pay for them,
assuming others have nothing else needing to do, especially ADLs, imnsho...
Soaked for hours,
shivering during some low activity time,
friendliness and food
plus bed/rest were needed,
and most other bipeds
a demanding annoyance to me...
