BayerBreeze2in2017

Introduction/Definition/etc

By the aspirin company, a glucose meter,

with a test strip disk, sans a battery (in hand

me down mode), some control fluid (known

sugar concentrations for making sure the

meter is working/ calibrating?) and see

the second data point, in the trilogy,

that sometimes becomes a chart...

Body

So learning a new device by reading up on it,

the booklet found, but a data cable was not

included, and it's a special pinout type thing

(stereo like?), not a USB/microUSB,

so the adapter cable exists online as

one for serial (old school) and a USB

version, not included, nor easy to find...

Having one disk of (10?) test strips,

one used, and one popped out while

I was learning not to open it that

way, but not used yet and no battery,

I cannot test with it yet, but a middle

point in the data point of device trilogy...

Looking up Bayer, and not

finding much for an older model

meter, Contour replaces it online,

and some may be compatible, but

not the test strips disks, afaict,

tldr...

Device Data

booklet has the part numbers for things

but not the data cable(s)...

Manual Shows

http://www.BayerDiabetes.com/us

which probably gets updated to

the Contour, latest greatest models...

Conclusion

Summary of experience or similar

Hand me down devices especially

that do blood testing may not be

the best, unless you know the

person and their medical conditions,

plus universal precautions trainings,

so that contagions are not transmitted...

Mostly the lancets, not used ones,

those get to go to a sharps disposal

container (yet to be purchased, will

see if I mail them in, or find more local

options?)

and cleaning the overall device components.

a former nurse probably knows how,

and others I guess learn,

hopefully not the hard way...

Discussion

A place for feedback on the page presented

So what to do with old devices, stock pile

them as backup devices, already know

how to use when blood sugar levels are

high, low, somewhere in between?

Learning new technology may not be

fun for most people. geeks may enjoy

it more, but this one literally pricks you,

finger prick for getting blood, the

part of the device set that does that,

the same lancets, as the Contour,

maybe, same control solution(s),

etc, will see what is really compatible...

No Bluetooth Low Energy to worry

about, but requires cables, not included,

afaict, etc, so not happening, that way,

yet, and had/ has a few test strips,

(guessing not in the box, no box

nor carrying case included)

for when I have battery money

(CR2032 or so, and how to get

to it, set the date/time, etc)
