BicycleAroundTheWorldByLindaSvendsen2017

Introduction/Definition/etc

Picked up a bicycle related book at a library book sale, for $0.50,

turns out it's a photography book, with only locations of bicycles,

but some idears on making it better, imnsho...

Body

Could use some more text, maybe on an accompanying website?

Rorschach test on what people, of many ages, cultures, languages,

abilities, etc think of the bicycle, surroundings, and maybe some of the

artists' description, crit the photography/ exif data, etc...

Others might use it as a wish book, and/or what bicycles mean to other

cultures...

Say American Mountain Bikes aren't anything like what someone grew up with,

and they needed a photo of a bicycle to show, what it was like...

Others might use it as a cut out type thing for dreaming of traveling,

and what it might look like, usually just a bicycle left in a public space

various stage of repair, most useful, but some losing air, etc...

MetaData

Some abstracted information could be gleaned from the photographs,

either mechanically by computers, and/or by people, to create a database,

and work from there, numbering pages, sort by location, age, manufacturers, etc...

A photo, some across two pages, others with a blank back page,

No page numbers provided, but finding them by locations

Town, Country, printed in white? text on most pages, a few may have

on previous pages, and any missing?

Physical description

 of the bicycle, location, etc?

what is being carried (green bananas, birds in cages, people, etc),

any people in the photo?

climate?

lighting?

etc?

Kick stands, pull up stands, racks, chain guards, wheel guards, etc...

Rust and age estimates, and more...

Design considerations for certain conditions?

Alaska?

Dessert?

Urban

Rural,

etc...

Conclusion

Summary of experience or similar

A good book, specially for the library book sale price,

but I didn't look at it head of time, seems small glossy

coffee table type book, maybe a vanity press (not really?),

in Utah? which LDS mission people go recruiting for Mormon/LDS

in various countries, continents, cultures, etc,

but whatever, it's many times on bicycles, and some look interesting,

so technical details, manufacturer, model, use, utility, surviving

the elements, etc... could be good technical data,

Like Janes' for bicycles?

Design sourcebook on making other frame types?

Discussion

A place for feedback on the page presented

What would a photograph of bicycles do for you?

Any artistic value?

Identify the bicycle?

That's my bike in X,Y, Z...

Like tour journals, diaries, etc...

What makes a good photograph?

Any story required, or just make up your own?

Can you remember where all your photographs are taken?

When?

Why?

Whom with?
