Introduction/Definition/etc
First blush on commercial breads
data, entered and start of a format/
spreadsheet, but several issues
besides the usual hurdle from
spreadsheet to database
(normalization, etc)
Body
Original Text
So bread bags pile up,
and while trying to learn about making bread,
and reducing packaging,
enter some things
to keep track and archive, eventually...
Several issues, some bags in the freezer,
lots of crumbs, or rinse it out,
once warm, they will spoil further,
and maybe attract insects, mold, smells, etc
or rinse them out,
removing all information about them,
photographing packaging
may be a copyright problem
as advertising and appearance
is one thing,
but the information and
data for processing, is another,
probably a competing need,
especially for my health,
and maybe others, idk, yet...
Scope
Brands and manufacturing locally?
Some are related to chains of supermarkets,
others are more national brands,
so wonder the process for large bakeries,
then down to local bakeries,
and daily that don't really say much about
and insert a card in the bag,
and not date, etc, information,
wonder if they have a website?
and how down the line,
by the time it gets to pantries,
if it's really out of date,
if you cannot see mold, etc,
cannot smell well,
you would have to ask someone else,
and then theoretically
there are baguettes, (etc?)
picked up without even packaging,
and use that day, hour/ minute,
but that is a known source,
if you directly get it from the manufacturers/
small ArtIsAnal baker,
say at a local farmers market...
Vacuum packed GF hot dog rolls
while expensive,
list $7+/4 hot dog rolls,
had very long shelf life,
but not a lot of taste, imnsho,
though i don't do GF a lot,
much less Vegan
Modified Text
What's Missing?
Nutritional information
Ingredients list,
availability, sources
good reviewing techniques
a framework for doing such review
smell, texture, colour,
crunchiness,
courseness (sp?),
some might call mouth feel?,
seeds,
response of going tto bathroom,
badly say around a day after eating,
like food allergies, GF, IBS, etc...

Assumptions
People can do what they want with information
on packaging, especially where their own health
is at risk...
Time Limits
Year not listed on the bags/ dates,
so guessed on some of them,
and those are the ones that had dates,
mostly on the clip,
some dot matrix printed on the bag,
and other issues/information, secret codes,
might be good to capture, add, guess what that's
about, say the bakery number,
batch of dough, flour, etc...
And other details, geeks and others might
be interested in...
If returning an item, what information do they
ask for?
or is it worth doing that?
Go in some database of frequent returns,
disagreeable customer, and some scamming
risks, etc...
Links
To put up the file for download here,
or a link to a spreadsheet I'd need to manage
any updates/ cooperative updates/ adding/ comments,
and suggestions from others?
OpenDocs,
PDF?
w embedded ODS file?
CopyLeft etc
Possible export of links from spreadsheet
to munge searching websites for nutritional
and other information provided, easily,
as it may change over long periods of time,
theoretically fork, discontinue, etc...
Well, for now a forking problem with updating,
but to start out, something, some don't use
open format, so PDF necessary,
otherwise cannot import it,
others offended by overly greedy software
companies/monopolies, etc...

if ever...
Conclusion
Summary of experience or similar
Start entering some packaging info that has piled up,
and related to the previous stuff,
so get some information down,
though going deep on the info can cause some problems,
ingredients, nutritional information,
photos of the packaging,
say UPC codes to practice scanning,
QRCode,
any medical claims like
reduces heart disease,
selling points and packaging copyright problems,
but scanning metadata, for what can be seen,
and help make intelligent choices when shopping,
or even picking up donated, for myself,
and more research into
what bothers me about breads,
that I'm generally given,
but causes a reaction,
of some sort, be it:
ingredients, old, dated, spoiled,
poisoned, some wheat mite/parasite?
or additive/ dough conditioner/ emulsifier,
preservative, etc
commercial breads use that i need to avoid,
say like triticale, in some multigrains (sp?)...
Discussion
A place for feedback on the page presented
What commercial breads do you like?
What do you like about them?
Do you think you can make them?
Is it worth it, to do so?
Time?
Money?
Effort?
Equipment, Skills and patience necessary?
If you made bread commercially,
would you be upset about this?
Why don't you offer this info easily online?
