Introduction/Definition/etc
Following on to
CookSomeThing2019
seems as if originality
only sparks every couple years
or so, at least in the kitchen,
but will see, might be some
other different things
discovered along the way,
else life might be boring...
Body
Original Text
So
mystery spill in the freezer
try to determine what is going bad now,
is it the butternut squash been there for months
on top leaking down, into the freezer door
first it was noticed on the caramels
(yeah sweets kept in there,
especially chocolates as melting problems...
but been a while since Halloween
then Valentine's time,
even Easter, which i didn't get
stuff post event even then either)
turns out looking at the rolled hamburger
from ZinebsPersonalTortureDungeon2020
after giving up on frozen chicken which
didn't look like it had lived a good live,
bruising on the ankles, etc,
dead animal,
and then chicken hot dogs,
at first constipation,
gave up on for a while,
then worried about nitrates, etc
but not been cooking much
oily mess
fry potatoes,
have to peel,
a problem if small,
slice, and then score/ W/E shaped
remember to add onions/ scallions,
and finally eggs, 6 or more,
done a dozen,
and maybe cover,
flip over carefully,
and not too long after,
as burns,
an oily mess,
kinda a breakfast, but works any
time of the day,
cast iron skillet,
likely works with other stuff,
but oil reuse, and fry a few times,,
some count better than i,
but bought 3 gallon turkey fry oil
year+ ago, so need to use up,
and only on the second one,
first peanut oil, the best, besides
olive which isn't used for that,
afaict,
then Aldi vegetable oil, mixed, soy,
etc...
with some additive,
as gets foamy when used too much
CookSomeThing2019
described the oil using up to
some
MasaCornPanFritterCake
type thing, a mix using more
Masa than Wheat based flour,
but can't seem to get away from it,,
adding canned corn, and egg,
milk, if have, and some consistency
trying for like a pancake batter like,
but variation, as not exact amounts,
trying the optimization/ determining
the best mixes, starting out,
then fall into some pattern,
the latest, is not bother cooking,
so boredom settling in,
same old same old
get base foods, little variation,
with spring and
Lidl2021
MoreOrLessLidl2021
and stopping by HT and
Aldi, Giant, etc
find some discounted other stuff,
clearance begging to do something with,
like adoptive stuffed animals or something
but these i end up eating,
Heinz KetChili
a Ketchup Chili Sauce mixture
cans of stuff piling up,
not used,
been saving stuff,
while buying other things,
a lot of bakery for a while,
returning carts,
get pastry/bakery,
got me through the winter,
out for a while,
FoodBooks2020
previously
HamiltonBeachBreadMaker2019
BlackAndDeckerBreadMaker2019
MetaBreadBooks2019
and IceCreamMachines2019
AldiAmbiano9In1ProgrammablePressureCooker2019
AldiAmbianoPressureCooker2019
seems as if they aren't doing the larger 8Qt
with stainless steel pot,
sadly had tried ham,
first donated at
CapitalAreaFoodBankAtArlMill2020
CAFBAtArlMill2021
then half price at Aldis,
AldiCantFind2019
AldiCantFinds2020
TriedSomeAldiCantFinds2019
but devices piling up too,
link no here yet,
and partially a surprise,
but not that great, or would have
done it already....
So in the meantime
have to do
SomeThingElse,
like Thing1, Thing2
ThingElse,
or computer
Do While
Else
If Then Else,
etc...
So hamburger, frozen in a roll,
in plastic, small cut and leaking
as that part of the door the seal/
weather stripping like is loose,
so had used hot dogs which
were cold, but not frozen,
solid, leaking bloody mess,
from the small tear,
finally got to starting
post Pest
where i had to yell at the guy(s)
to leave after no timely notice,
neighbors saying they had been there,
and i'd only heard at 6 am leaving out
to MoreOrLessLidl2021
post that trip,
following on,
not changing my plans, much,
out and walk 5 miles?
lost in the park,
took a bus, boring and risky
but needed the help,
took a rolling cart, so awkward,
and bored with the same walk
along high speed road,
and then looping around the park
by mistake,
not finding an exit,
follow the stream,
a Sign Road to Green Spring
the main path up,
but backtracking
a nasty woman you need to drive,
i'm not driving,
what use is the park if have to drive to it?
like Muir's Nature Museums,
the standard is out in industrialized society
and some oddly pristine but overrun
with invasive species bipeds,
going to see trees, and nature,
only the odd places preserved,
not the norm, thought later)
late arrival,
wondering what i would encounter
after the previous problems with
problem cashiers,
bought a bread maker,
had gotten stim check 3
and while note burning a hole
in my pocket (need to spend)
had been on my list a while,
since first visit(s),
and might eventually go away,
warm(er) weather
and less desire to bake/ heat the already
warm/ hot kitchen,
so time's a wasting...
but maybe more on that,
when get around to it,
have 3 already?
HamiltonBeachBreadMaker2019
BlackAndDeckerBreadMaker2019
and one other?
one of which is burned badly on the
inside, not the removeable (sp?) pot,
two were thrift store,
and they only work for 100? or so
bakes, so that's a couple years,
if even new, of weekly bake a loaf,
or other recipes that they do,
jam, dough mix, cakes, etc...
BreadMan is the third,
this new one a 3 Lb
and SilverCrest or whatever
Lidl branding/ buying,
so will see,
box didn't say how
much weight/ volume,
thought a spare paddle,
looked up on app,
seems like a 1.5 lb double
but turns out two mixing holes/
paddles in the bigger pot/pan,
so will see, hope it's good,
at $70 seems high to me,
but will see...
Running dishwasher with pot,
not found the paddle nor read the
manual(s), yet, more to do,
always, is seems...
So backlog...
Cast Iron Skillet
Frozen cut up to get out of the roll,
can start with frozen,
but used to a different shape,
find a spatula,
can use metal as cast iron,
and still using the dishwasher
on the skillet, a lot of build up,
especially on the bottom,
really could use oven cleaner on it
and start over, reSeasoning it,
but will see...
conductivity with the induction stovetop
AldiAmbianoInductionStoveTop2020
(might be good to finally have a page
for it, made a link name, might actually
populate it eventually, no?)
no oil necessary
the hamburger is 80% Lean
20% fat, so has some built in,
rolling it,
medium heat 274 F or similar
100 low is too little,
but will see,
Browning the meat,
and scraping some thawed
browned off to get down to red
and frozen, thawing by cooking,
how to make that even,
flat stuff used to, so some
scrape along like carving
a meat rotisserie?
meat on a heat spit/ stick,
but get it down to all thawed,
forgot onions, until later,
and never added,
thought i had some HamBurgerHelper,
but only found chicken,
may still have have old deer meat,
presumably, game unspecified,
now 2+? years in the freezer,
to get to, how to cook Bambi
not sure yet,
but not want to waste,
if killed already,
but beef, now piling up,
as is chicken hot dogs,
ham, taking out stuff,
turkey(s), and freezer/ electricity
problems and too much to
cook/eat/ feast on, all at once
more coming in weekly / monthly,
and assorted finds,
was putting bread in freezer,
but those have been rare,
Spring Break and volunteering
down, PandemicWareHouse2020
and their finances, and other problems,
annual survey
and they wouldn't let me,
came in and stood around,
i went over and stood there
next to them
someone saying the director
does mine, i guess writing up the place
and not get the normal questions
they can't take the bad review(s)
while likely others contributing,
doesn't seem like statistically (sp?) valid
sampling nor fair
(some time after that, while a nonprofit,
may have started taking federal money)
and got asked to say/write a few nice things
about the volunteers, for volunteers day,
i declined, seems as if the new boss
is just as nasty as the problem
ZinebsPersonalTortureDungeon2020
and allows it,
i looked up,
their annual fundraising,
moved from the Army Navy Country Club
citing space, to something i don't know,
not that I've been to ANCC either,
and at $50+ / plate/ seat,
not likely , even someone buying me
one, not a public speaker,
saying nice things isn't my style,
critical or say nothing,
about my only two modes,
not nothing to complain about,
that would be unnatural for me,
just not worth the energy,
as a depressive don't enjoy much,
so spending energy on things
must conserve to things i have to do,
occasionally want to do,
and just survive...
Exploring the park
being one,
taking photographs of
the decision points,
like cookie crumbs,
marking electronically where i was,
(if i remember GPS/Location On)
and start recognizing,
and season changing while i do it,
week to week with new greening
underbrush, looking very different
with some greenery,
easier when can see further
without leaves, etc,
but learning landmarks,
trail options one side of the stream
and the other, etc...
Might eventually have a nice
compilation of parks during seasons,
no snow fall really on that one,
old trails while riding, W&OD
long since not much done about,
animal spotting
AlphabetGame2018
and other
BBCMicroBit2017
used to count different things
on a list:
Ants,
Birds, ButterFly,
Cicada? Cricket
Deer, Dog
E_? Elephant? Egret?
Fly
Frog,
G_Goose
Heron,
(turns out Egret is a type of Heron,
and not specific enough)
PotomacHeritageTrail2021
etc
etc..
So make my own HamBurger Helper?
inspired by Risotto (sp?)
rice cooked like stir fry?
hot oil and kind of pop it,
wondering if pasta,
turns out Rigate
kind of big elbow macaroni
without the turn,
added can of kidney beans,
used to make chili with turkey
and a spaghetti sauce
but had a
Spatini spaghetti sauce packet,
none here, iirc,
had bought garlic recently,
but no used,
tomato, try finding a can i need an
opener, oddly some dropped and split
the easy opening ones may be a problem,
if jostled around
but taking with a can
and eating on the run,
even ate the mixed vegetables,
carrots on top, potato (need cooking?)
corn, and string? beans?
so on shaky ground,
the bait the pest guy applied
over my tomatoes and apples
piled no top of the gas stovetop
with other stuff, old sweet potatoes
spouting, and cast iron flat top,
dutch oven, french oven, etc
and
King's Hawaiian bread
(already eaten) but need the packaging,
as would want to make some of that,
a sweet bread, think i had a mix at one
point, have to check, maybe one of my first
bread machine tries?
So selected
diced tomatoes,
the
kidney beans
all but the sludge,
usually would drain that,
but low on liquid,
had some old water left out, day+
from drinking, so
less than a liter/litre of warm water
and the
skillet looks like it might overflow,
and pasta on top of that?
might soak up the liquid
don't have a spare stovetop
burner and don't want to waste
water, for just cooking pasta,
another pot, and learn how to do
with one pot/ skillet,
a
One Pot/Skillet Wonder
(if the pasta actually cooks enough)
so thinking
ChiliMac,
not Cincinnati (sp?),
really, but does have tomatoes
someone nearby says it'll be like
Tootsie rolls,
uncooked pasta,
al dente
i.e. requires a dentist
to fix your broken teeth,
not wanting another
MindingAndMiningYourTeeth2012
and
MobileMashDentistry2017
FreeDentalDays2017
been years now
lay off the sweets, might be longer, no?
but forging ahead,
hoping the pasta will cook
constant moving the dry pasta
to the wet areas,
trying not to overflow,
had a while back on something
after moderate success,
the first time, wonder if reproduceable (sp?),
keeping weights, of what put in,
can of this,
can of that,
brands and cut off labels,
some notes on timing,
not using the timer feature,
so 30 minutes of pasta cooking
standing over it, trying to mix it
get the dry pasta in the wet, but
not flowing over the side,
keep the lid off,
had used a big pot lid for a while,
one is chipping paint,
the other an aluminum rust
problem, part of why
i was buying new pots, to start with,
besides Aldi had them cheaply,
some work with induction
some don't labeling may say,
the ceramics one don't no metal,
and the aluminium (sp?) don't
only one has a built in hot areas,
making a metal disk, some converters
like a stone for pizza,
this an iron disk built in the bottom,
aluminum sides and non stick finish
inside, and bought a universal lid,
fits multiple sizes, but only bought one,
gone by the time i tried the first,
it seems, or low money, more likely...
So keep stirring,
remembering
my mother teaching me risotto,
that i think was oil and high heat,
thinking popcorn like until done,
but stir, stir, stir,
getting a few photos along the way,
from dry to boiling,
to soupy/ slurry type thickening sauce
some has evaporated,
go into some sort of trance/
thinking on someone out west
low water, and don't want to waste,
only one pot/ skillet,
maybe the double dutch oven,
and warming by the fire,
or out at see, low water, not waste
on pasta water, single pot bachelor,
warming by the fire,
maybe a storm,
etc...
Keeping warm and busy
at the same time,
hungry have to eat,
and making a lot,
too, hungry enough to eat a whole
pot/ skillet full,
some skillets end up going into the oven,
but since mice invaded the last oven,
and not liking chemicals,
nor cleaning one, bought the
Ovens2019
AldiAmbianoTurboConvectionOven2019
haven't even tried the
DutchOvenBreadsByMarkHansen2019
bought electronic bread makers
and pressure cookers,
instead
the AllCladDutchOven2021
(add electric in there?)
still not tried,
nor the TurkeyDeepFryer2020
(correct name?)
the commercial issues in residential,
and hot oil, despite welding qualification/
training, not the same, wondering if can do
outside sometime,
rent a park pavilion or something
a new one near the dog park,
has power plug, but supplies grills,
not sure about variance/ exception
to try it finally, would be good,
or go visiting and make turkey
for others, not likely,
but another option to determine,
explore...
So have to calculate out the time,
eventually taste, and edible,
made it, didn't spill,
and somewhat cooked,
declaring SUCCESS,
tempted to internet search
undercooked pasta causes what illnesses?
but spoils the fun, no?
not trying to get sick,
thinking lots of camp cooking
disasters, people eat what they
brought and prepared,
rations are slim, carry in and
waste not want not,
all rather depression era,
scarcity, but it's a pandemic,
no? despite my stocking up,
i won't call it hoarding food(s)/
cans, and if getting second shot,
some have gotten sick ,
JohnSon & JohnSon
some blood clotting people
say 6 people in 7 million
i was imagining myself as one of them,
if bad luck i'd be the one to have it,
the abusive pest and maintenance guy
on the 13th without adequate notice,
AprilFoolsDay2021
i seem to recall 48 hour notice,
unless an emergency and
someone likely took my pocket knife
missing for days,
somehow returned while stuck elsewhere,
illegal entry again, they came in,
didn't knock very loudly,
like sneaking in, and not said maintenance,
so ignoring as a neighbor/kids
soliciting though posted,
many do anyways, political and
Verizon being most, but not all,
i eventually put pants back on,
they had opened the door by then,
cleared the door history, of their
previous illegal entry, i've got a
do not enter on my maintenance
record(s), they ignore(d),
harassment continues,
previous week notice,
someone came in while i was down,
can't do this, third company,
one was Orkin? known for killing
elderly in rural Virginia, with Fumigant(s)?
termites, iirc, and tried another,
this being 4th?
PestNow, avoid them,
he's a young black guy,
which seemed ok to start,
i poke my head around the side
from the bedroom door,
he had bait/ caulk guy raised
like a machine gun,
bait, he corrects gel,
(i'm already thinking arrogant prick
goes with the age, i guess
likely primed by maintenance)
go ahead, i say,
you've been here before or similar,
thinking on the last few days/ week
visit,
i mention the lack of sufficient notice
i want to see where it's applied,
so i can avoid it, i add,
one guy had thought i was seeking
poison, the misconceptions/
stigma is amazing and people
get certification/ licensed from VTech
so the same TheShortOfIt
and a recent problem guy of similar
appearance haranguing (sp?) stalking
and threatening on return from
PotomacHeritageTrail2021
i find the mask used earlier in the day,
came back exhausted, pollen and bus
get that layer off, not put on bedding,
eat something
(like whole brick Monterey Jack cheese),
and back down,
charging devices,
determine distances,
forgot one of the SmartWatches
AldiiTouchWearAblesAirSESmartWatch2020
rushing out, packing quickly, slow start,
usually predawn, like now,
senior / CDC day early, again?
save a bowl of it,
had the caramel bowl and lid,
reused that,
So try the KetChili
too Sirachi? hot chili
not going to like that,
but a little bit in each to use
up, like the Horacchi (sp?)
very hot chili,
got used up eventually,

Noob
Probably a lot easier to buy
a can of something prepared,
even the microwave little things,
but careful with them, get hot,
and sharps on the lid(s)/edge(s)...
Kids
Not sure trying cooking is
a good idear, especially unsupervised,
sharps, hot,
reading and following instructions,
etc
And worse yet,
who has to clean up
the messes?
/explain to the fire department,
EMS/ Ambulance,
insurance company, etc...
Dis/Dys
Graphic
generally can't draw graphics,
not illustrating this and take photos,
video, so less of a problem,
but trying to read someone
else's recipe and follow box instructions
sometimes a problem,
like seeing later the Garlic bought
is Garlic MUSTARD...
not minced garlic
and the Heinz KetChili is
VERY HOT SPICY
down on two of the three
clearance items...
Third is Ranch salad dressing,
maybe something to do with the
tomatoes besides just Whipped
on bread (out of)...
Assumptions
Learning something,
usually the hard way,
but seems to have turned out ok,
so far...
Creativity takes different forms,
munging words/ destroying
sentence structure,
and punctuation!@?#!$
only minor offenses to sensibilities,
but eating something created
and say ending up in the bathroom
having cramps for day+ or something
that takes dedication/ stupidity,
food poisoning likelihood lessened as
beef browned well to start,
other stuff canned,
or boxed, pasta is wheat based,
and likely some sensitivity to that...
Time Limits
hamburger in freezer,
not frozen, enough that it leaks,
but cold, refrigerator cold,
weekly new staples, same stuff
different week,
trips out to DisCount/ Clearance
shelves, finding other stuff
to try, for variety,
and monthly

see if you can find,

Conclusion
Summary of experience or similar
Success, of sorts,
did something different,
while similar too,
guided by experience with
risotto,
and my mother's teaching me,
i think she had intended it for a date/
girlfriend/ future wife type of thing,
shows dedication or something,
but learning survival skills,
eat up before spoil,
losing vegetables,
had tried a tomato with
Whipped Dressing,
(variant of Salad Dressing/
Mayo?) with the
Hawaiian (Sweet) Bread
not bad, but not ripe,
wait a few days, but need to
remember to check and likely
spoiled by the time i get back to it,
usually happens with fresh
vegetables/ fruits...
and takes a long cooking time,
some meditative
and first time's a charm,
interesting doing new things,
but might get boring,
