Introduction/Definition/etc
Like OLPCUpdateSugarLabsOnRPi4in2021
or similar trying to use technology
that i'm at least somewhat familiar with
to improve things around me...
But it's with groups, and they may not,
and i may not, etc...

Original Text
So with meetings becoming HyBrid
both a return to in person And
online/ Zoom
it brings the studio audience
and further self agrandizing/eGrandizing
but technology wise there are some things
With Virus fears/ Variants, etc
though many/most (coHorts) may be
fully vaccinated, there is a risk,
however small, that virus and other
problems return...
So defining the scenario/
a large (hopefully enough) pipe into the church
(pipe is internet connection/ width of the pipe
is bandWidth, and how much data/ how fast , etc)
churches/ etc may be more technological than
previously, and may have been meeting within themselves
besides renting to outsiders/ meetings
plus some services have gone online,
so maybe more online than previously,
desparate (sp?) meetings/ organizational,
funding drives, fellowship, etc...
So Zoom or other conferencing
hosted from the church,
in person,
a projector/ large screen TV/monitor
to see the other(s)
and/or lots of small local people
bringing their technology in,
most would have SmartPhones
like always/ as usual
and audio equipment may be non existent,
like microphones, enough speakers, etc
a conferencing/ computer lab or sorts, is what
geeks might expect, say a computer class,
or lab/ teleconferencing, online classes,
and video recording, say a video class?
so multiple possibilities, most of which
a church may not have, but maybe some
donate, idk, not up on churches/etc
Technically
wifi/ hardwired connection(s)
rented space
some use/ availability
nice during some meetings to play games
and wait out the time/ keep up with things,
check weather, email, planning after,
look things up like say Stepping Stones
70th Anniversary Picnic later today,
and other events, literature/ documentation,
back when AlaNotIntCon2018 con happened
the app and showing/ learning/ telling others
and virtual meets online, perhaps visitors
coming into country/ town/ etc
showing up in person, checking while traveling,
and many may be traveling again this summer,
graduations happening, time off,
check on others, delayed plans, etc...
So what's the Idear?
Use the microphone in the SmartPhones
record locally (not bad in 12Step context,
say announce it ahead,
i'm recording myself
who knows what i might say,
and where it will/ won't go,
plus keeps a record of it,
say compiling your own step work,
what is bothering me/you/us now
etc,
timer (how long have i been going on/
drivel/ nostalgia/ some meeting actually
use timers and limit "sharing" blathering
on to 3 minutes/ like public comment time
in RebootingGooberment2013
PublicInPutProcess2021
etc
so variable amount
maybe some wrap up warnings,
15-30-AMinute warning
and most of all transmit the audio
to a SoundServer
(like a print and file server)
but more live,
Video Options might exist,
use local camera instead of moving
chairs/ seats, and other layout problems
like which are on camera, everyone required
to be, is the camera pointed towards the door,
can you get in and out off camera,
and conversely do you know who all is there
to avoid saying some things,
being stalked/ entrapped, attacked,
outvoted, shunned/ostracized, etc
video quality, say pointed out in the room,
can you see who is talking/
mouth moving, or in my case rather
blurry, not good detail/ resolution
noticed with YouTube some travel
4k video but less than SD quality
by the time it gets to me
time of day, people fragging
(aka virtually shooting)
others
(not as likely during night time like
now, competing school, outages,
etc)
But that uses Linux
which to me is good,
others may disagree,
but as a server type environment,
many desktop and noobs may not
know about, a lot like OLPC/
XO perhaps a big learning curve
for others, to try other operating systems,
but with older and donated hardware,
say an old laptop, get a new one,
try to reuse the old,
say old WinBlows version,
bring new life to it,
but like a G3 Mac i have
some are too old, waited too long,
and while an oldie but goodie,
a history/ museum piece,
say i did my undergrad thesis
programming project and the old
desktop can't take that around to show,
but a laptop maybe, have to remember
passwords, and other miracles,
too like finding files/ tools, hardware,
battery(ies), matching bricks, etc...
JACK Audio Connection Kit
recursive?
like many gDrug names common term
and searching finds many things
JackD app is perhaps a gay porn site,
but this one is audio,
and audio server,
professional audio stuff,
people make editors
and on Linux there are many choices
only some may work for you,
Ardour, is one,
there's a KDE (desktop environment)
KEnLive is video editing
3D modeling etc
anyways
ESD
PulseAudio
competing but base level,
some jack integration with that,
afaict...
Looked up an found
PatchField is Google's
Android solution to the
JACK inspired by
or hardware limitations, etc
something maybe 2013?
and then not seen again,
would think it might continue
but seems to have died?
can't find anything about it
but haven't spent a lot of time on it,
many other conflicting things going on
and a waste of time if others aren't
interested, or i can't actually program
something, Peer Networking would
have to actually work, etc
I wrote up some things,
unlike nothing really personal
in it, so editing really required
a header on an old intro to Linux Audio
link, how it might happen,
or not,
Many/most projects with me don't
happen, writing the idear of it
is about as far as i get,
this one documenting
some, as have many other things
going on, and before i forget
some of the details,
reasons, etc
but long winded/ drivel
instead of concise,
to the point...
One of the problems of writing/
typing while tired, instead of fresh
in the night, dump the things
going on then can sleep
but if can't sleep only dump
not as much clarity possible,
and becomes a vicious circle/
cycle
JACK is complicated
as a rich/ well designed/
very capable system,
but the learning curve,
hitting me,
many example programs/
code, and some intro things
but how to actually get it working,
graphical environments help
and need some scripting/
command line too
need to automate it,
script it, save Sessions
(settings)
audio in,
out,
many devices,
say a metronome/ timer,
clock
beat,
beatbox,
lots of filtering?
noise/ background?
silencing?
amplifying?
dissecting/sampling
looping,
synth
sources / mic (input only)
recording (sink)
splitting
and basically any combination,
hard devices and soft (simulated
in software)
and then networking,
packetizing
JACK2 exists, at some level,
so versions of it,
some better/ worse for certain
applications,
know of JACK2 so don't try
making JACK1 fruitlessly
when may be coming out
in next version soon?
Graphical patch/
autoconnecting
plugin events
a headphones jack gets plugged in
so assumed to monitor?
that mean kill the speaker?
either or
how about both?
hear better locally
and amps etc
distorting
clarifying
a conversational editing/ synch
meld/ merge talking
program exists, or at least started,
many are GitHub code repos
and can
git clone https://git.GitHub./SomeProg or
similar
and off to the races/ learning
and rabbit hole,
some good, learning
but other things going on
and off on another thing
and forget/ don't get back to,
like tired and hungry
and another page
for today...
backing up the wiki / db
but not completing
did a start with/before
MemorialDayWeekEnd2021
to no avail

Discussion
A place for feedback on the page presented
what do you know of audio/ sound server(s)?
you can now remotely choose files to mp3
play out to speakers,
and more advanced stuff,
say RPi a sound/ video player
and remote control it with your
cell/smart phone/
remote control
other device...
But more advanced to stream
inputs to other places,
reduce bandwidth
each person would not need
a laptop
and smartphone and watching
a big screen, not big enough
as bigger room, and space out
6' each, wearing masks,
(seems safer) or not
What have you gotten working?
What apps do you use?
Anything interesting?
Does musical ability matter?
Or have to be too geeky
and not a music geek...
