Body
SPOILER
Not as I remembered it, more carefree
and hippie than what it turns out to be,
maybe why I blocked stuff, like the ending
They start out drug running to Mexico,
testing and buying cocaine stored
in battery cases, sell to a guy
in a Rolls Royce at the airport,
stash the cash in the gas tank,
all American flag like, tank
and helmet, other guy a cowboy,
no helmet...
Later they tag along
a town parade, end up in jail,
with a drunk guy, Jack Nicholson
plays a lawyer, drying out from a binge,
don't tell daddy, as the
police give him coffee and
aspirin, he pays them off,
not to tell Daddy...
He wants to go to New Orleans,
Marty Gras, tried several times, never
made it, how many days, couple days
riding, and shows a coupon/
card for a night at a brothel
/ hookers...
To tag along, he's asked if he's
got a helmet, Have I got one...
Next scene wearing an old football helmet
later hear his mom left him on the bed,
for his kids some day..
Lettered college sweater,
M, Michigan or something?
While drinking, he tries grass / Pot,
at the campsite, with the usual,
[ gateway ] drug, leads to harder
stuff, and starts the morning with it,
better than the alcohol he's been doing...
Pull into a cafe to eat and
law / sheriff in both next to girls,
law and ag guy make comments,
<should be to 60's song
"Long Haired Freaky people need not apply"
and/ or "Signs, Signs, everywhere a sign" Song... >
One guy says they won't make it
out of the Parish, so must be in
Louisiana, getting close to New Orleans...
young girls are making other comments,
and outside swooning <sp?> wanting a ride,
but law/ "man" is in the window watching...
Camping/ sleeping in the swamp at night,
after talking / joking about bull frogs,
get a beating, and Jack/lawyer gets killed,
they burn him in the sleeping bag,
take the money and card,
Arrive in Orleans brothel,
eating pork chops, drinking red wine,
blood of Christ type dark stuff,
statues, and paintings, high and low art,
presumably and stuff,
go up stairs, and two girls / hookers,
Fonda has to leave, the girls don't
drink while working,
but they go out to Marti Gras,
end up in a cemetery,
do the acid and weird scenes,
religion, and sex, crying and
stuff...
Guys driving out of town alone,
couple of red necks in a pickup truck,
tries a shot gun to scare the
cow boy who gave him the finger
instead, gets hurt, buddy (Peter Fonda)
goes back, tries to get help,
leaves jacket, goes for help,
Fonda gets blown away on next ride
around of pick up truck,
closing aerial scene, gas tank burning,
allusion to burning napalm in VietNam?
Conclusion
Summary of experience or similar
Not what I recall of the movie,
the drugs, and stuff, some people
say they got into bikes/ motorcycles
on that movie, but others maybe not,
I probably saw the movie but don't
remember most of it, not into drugs,
it was the culture growing up,
but I did the music instead,
some Jimi Hendrix in the movie,
going through the African American
houses with laundry on the line
outside, then cut short,
credits say 7 to 5 or something
was the song name (look it up)
Discussion
A place for feedback on the page presented
Social commentary?
Or just a Movie?
Western and Horses,
Hippie Camp, planting seeds,
thought they would give the money to the hippie
camp, they were being polite and went to the
canyon, free love, in the pools, wells,
streams/ rivers, skinny dipping...
Indian lands, one guy hitch hiked,
takes them to get gas, would not know
what it was, Fonda says of his buddy
worried about what was in the tank,
taken care of, the gas,
and fed, a troupe playing theatre for their meals,
animals, donated food, planting seeds,
but don't get much water, found some
to swim in though, so they "will be all right",
getting out of the cities...
Chopper bikes, long front fork,
high rake angle, little front wheels,
focus on the bikes some, now out
of style, the 60's 70's long gone
like disco...
