A Government organization combining the Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Mental Retardation services of a community. Other states and within Virginia have different names for these types of local government service organizations.

GAF, General Assesment of Functioning
A measure of participatory and social function, on a scale from 0 (comatose?) to 100 (unimpaired or at full potential). Usually used in the tens. For examples, a person with a GAF of 60 may be working and functioning with impairments, but someone with a GAF of 20 may well be hospitalized as unable to care for self. reference todo here...

ICD-9, International Classification of Diseases
A system of diagnostic codes, more comprehensive than but partically inclusive of DSM-IV, usually used for billing and reporting. WHO ICD

IQ, Intelligence Quotient
A measure of intellectual function, having a defined mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. The quotient of intellectual age and chronological age. 171 is considered in the genius range, depending on test used. Ironically, the SF171 is the federal personnel application form number ;-)
Jurisdictions
A legal term to describe a locality, or Government entity. Examples include a county, city, state, town, etc.
Legacy
When used in computer terms, it is the older systems. PBWiki for example created a new WYSIWYG editor, allowed newly created PBWikis to use the new Editor but did not upgrade the older systems until many weeks later. This is sometimes necessary for converting and debugging purposes. IBM has been very succcessful in keeping old systems running, thereby not disturbing common business practices.

Mental Health, MH
A state of well being. Traditionally, Mental Illness is considered to be starting with a diagnosis from DSM.
Mental Retardation, MR
Usually noticed early in life when a child does not grow in a path expected, sometimes also called Developmental Disabilities.

Memorandum Of Agreement used to specify terms of an agreement. todo better
Notes
Written information, usually for self, unless cleaned up, presented to others in a group for ratification as minutes.
Onset
The beginning of symptoms. Early onset is a term used to describe symptoms noticed early for that diagnosis. For example, some types of Schizophrenia may have an early onset in teenage years, with a majority of diagnoses by the time one is aged in their 30s.
Partnership
A collaboration among different groups as in a coallition or individuals as in a marriage.
Peer
similar to equal. Compare with jury of your peers.

Prognosis
The outlook for recovery of a particular patient or consumer.

Restraint
Physically keeping a person from moving, usually by force. Examples include a Straight jacket, point restraints, etc.
Regional
In Virginia, the mental health system is divided into regions. Northern Virginia is a region including the jurisdictions Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax / Falls Church, Loudoun, Prince William and towns like Herndon and Vienna in the area.
Reporting
Status of an organization, or progress.
Robert's Rules of Order
A set of behavioral and procedural rules for all participants in any meeting having a structure in which, in general, a presiding officer (President or chair) organizes debate by accepting comments from those attending, with a Secretary taking minutes for ratification at the following meeting. One of the primary Rules is that comments are to be directed to the chair when vigorous debate, disagreement or simultaneous conversation makes progress difficult.

A Social Security term used (in combination with other factors) to determine if someone is able to work. Typically, SGA is about $860 / month. If one earns over that amount while disabled, it is likely that they will lose benefits.
Teleconferencing, Teleconf
Using the telephone for meetings. Sometimes called conference calls. Usually requires an 800 type number and an access number.
Trauma
Any life experience assocated subjectively with the expectation of death, serious harm, or other permanent change out of one's own control leading to imprinting and the development of a trigger sensitivity. Two people can have the same life experience and yet one might have no trauma, and the other develop an imprint.

A life experience producing recall of a traumatic emotional state. May be any sense experience (a smell, a sight, a sound, etc.) or a situational experience (restraint, seclusion, contact with or presence of a particular person or someone similar, or a relationship dynamic (powerlessness, manipulation, aggression, passivity, violence, etc.)). An associative function of the limbic system in the brain, often an inconvenience or disabling function in modern society, evolved over human history and having value for self-preservation.

need an autogenerated form of this. Create a definition in a page, mark it as glossary and define it. Too many little pages on this pbwiki are definitions which could be combined into a glossary, automagically...
Needs smarter software, and indexing capability.
If in doubt, call the search on the upper right hand corner of your screen... This will hopefully find all uses...

IS MOSTLY HUMOROUS, AND A STARTING POINT...
The technology of linking within links was complicated,
and how to go directly to the definitions when used in other pages
never really understood, nor implemented...
Sad, as it's an entry point to understanding what is going on,
with jargon galore...
