LukesLobster2014

Introduction/Definition/etc

I've been wanting to go visit Luke's Lobster since I saw a PBS show about it,

and finally got around to it...

Body

Cold days when thinking the fishermen/ lobster trap people would be having a tough

time of it like Alaska something or other fishing, on a channel I don't get,

on a cable I can't afford, but alas I went anyways, to get away from it all,

a little like camp as a kid, improve me reading, and writing skillz,

or whatever...

Find it on the Bethesda Row store area, thinking it might be the closed down

Crepe place, a street vendor too cold for that, or off time, there is a farmers

market nearby and a flea market that doesn't allow bikes across Wisconson (sp?)

Avenue or similar, an old landmark, with parking out front.

So the two young ladies were funny and pleasant, I ordered lobster roll,

without really looking much at the rather simple menu,

planning on the next courses too, since it's like fish,

clam chowder (.us.ME accent not available)

saying something like I'm probably going to write about this,

and paying for my own food...

I had an argument with a uniformed mother or lesbian partner

while waiting, most do takeout, from the PBS and two rows of bar

with stools, maybe during better weather they open up the closed

street to outside tables, but it was too cold, and only kids running,

parents chasing, and a black lab, remembering most black labs

have appetites ( at AVeteransSonLaughsAndSpitsAtMe2011 ,my prime example)

someone recently described as a good way to train them,

FOOD...  That four letter word, I'm a BAD! foodie by the way,

I eat a lot (read gourmand not gourmet), and can't write well,

so I piss people off, with my bluntness, good old country charm or

(.us.it whatever... see 1 hour .ogg format files in above .WV links)

Security showed up about the time the second course came around,

and I bought the hooded sweatshirt, it was cold, and I needed another layer,

security or someone mentioned it was going to snow, and my departure

after talking about bikes and other way too personal stuff, about the time

the flakes were starting coming down...

The women were on facebook or whatever, paid to gossip or whatever young

females tend to do in off time, they couldn't have been too young, they serve

alcohol there, and the soda fountain and rack of chips near that and the bathroom,

my stuff piled up in the corner and likely a call from the owner (brother is running it,

Luke is the finance guy, according to PBS, or IIRC)

An article or press kit clipped to the end of the serving bar area,

I could have read more, if I wasn't talking too much about bikes to security,

you see you can pedal there too if you wish, from Capital Crescent trail in the

daylight, or whatever the trail use rules are for commuters, maybe use at your own

risk, always is anyways, but posted might be like RebootingGooberment2013

Cross roads are MD 191 and there is a big community swimming pool (50 yards/ meters,

fire house on the end of the big (city) type block....

But I digress, Lobster roll was on a hot dog type roll, white bread,

they have gluten free, at an extra cost, $2, might want a whole grain bread

for the health conscious, the bakers could choose, or maybe rum buns,

the high end white table cloth place (ODonnells?) around NIH boundaries

north of downtown (MOVED TO OUTER SUBURBS)

(old Hot Shoppes? across from what was People's Drug before

there was a BIG Dig type hole in the ground for Metro) has those buns, IIRC.

5 Guys original near South Glebe and Columbia Pike back in the day had Brenner's

Bakery, now a franchise like Luke's seems to be bigger than I recall hearing about,

the paper menu, in small round numbers,  with tax, more complicated math...

But who uses local green currency anyway, plastic like the utensils is the norm,

Yep Cheer's Norm...

Other options are/ were, Philly Steaks near the car dealership/ movie theatre,

mid way up, and some world market type places before the rum buns place,

and well Washington Apple Pi users group had an office across the street,

and there is/ was a diner, Tastee diner, IIRC across the street, movie

theatre in a mall over by Monkey Donuts and someone named Bradley had

a blvd? now Lowe's or something  in the mall, and there is a Bethesda trolley,

round the downtown thing, like Circulator  in downtown DC,

and another Luke's in Penn Quarter area up the hill from Teaism

at Navy Memorial and down from Verizon

(was Murderer's Cutthroats and Informants) Center back in the day,

MLK library not far from there, and StreetSense office in St. Enlightenment

aka Elsewhere, er epiphany MLK lib where the answer man IIRC

does some of his research according to the local fish rag, aka Warshinton Times/

WaPo, whichever he is answering Washingtonia lib researcher questions from...

(find link)

So a Maine Root? root beer from tap, a local (Maine) brew, with other stuff

from fountain (called Pop up north), and I went back like it was a 5 Guys,

free refills, might have been wrong on that, might have pointed it out,

but my bad, they were nice, cute too when climbing over customers

to get to the sweatshirt, looking for my size, and color preference one left likely,

big fluffy thing, tag says made in Hondoures, (sp?)

maybe L.L.,Bean and they can do more Maine local?  But that is likely

all made in China too, or where ever.

(rumor has it ells are the big thing, can't transport them, must grow locally,

and ship elsewhere, something specifically about them, GPS built in?)

Again must find link to not appear crazy...

Eating the second course cheddar grilled cheese skipping lobster grilled cheese,

as just had a big helping of that,, could have used some mustard,

had I been left alone to think and eat, not as social as much as a snowed in north easter...

aka Snowed In (read by press), bad pun of the year, last...

the way I usually eat it, or grape jam like for mac and cheese,

a local northern thing, afaict, like cheese with apple pie,

or venison with the last hunting of relatives getting too old to hunt,

the dog, hunting dog since gone, friends of the family bringing in the

seniors discount, like neighbors help each other in the country,

otherwise they freeze to death, or have to buy too many John Deeres'

or International Harvestors jeeps, my toy car thawed out, with a large

hair dryer, it was air cooled and I didn't change the oil before going up

to 10 degree northern towns, rather remote...

Like adding oil to a small plane that the instructor and friend who

dropped me off thought had "services", really just an air strip

along the underground railroad going north, now a place for milky

white fracked water table water running down to the Chesapeake bay...

Wind farms when the power lines support it,

Maryland buying Penna hot air... Figuratively...

But I digress, now 50 years old and most relatives gone,

I was looking for old home, found some lobster which IIRC

made me sick back in the day, in Boston,

another back in the day looking for the Cheers restaurant,

and found it, something like it anyway, Harvard Yard, and MIT

Kendall Square in Cambridge, tech center of the world or their own minds,

not sure how you look at it, from the country perspective

or the god or city created it all, tea party and everything...

"But I digress", Taxi2013 in Harry Chapin n Big John's carrot juice banter,

FlowersAreRed link, then later remembering my old math teacher used to say,

and I once thought those that get C's in physics get A's at MIT,

and other things like Montgomery In Takoma as a local rendition

of MIT, or Harvard on the Pike, Montgomery Community College

in Rockville for the locals... Townies, they might be called more

remotely aka rurally...

Options of lobster rolls without mayo and butter were available

but I was too distracted to notice, so thrilled to escape the stir crazy of being

trapped inside, finally getting out after months of waiting,

unsuccessfully...

Sick

Like QBBQ2013  riding in the rain, maybe cold ,or being recognized,

my whereabouts are made public likely by a publicist aka terrorist I don't know

nor want to know, my privacy totally blown, likely ThePracticalitiesOfFoodDistribution2012

related, risking my life, bike trashed Xmas night,

and other threats so thick I can't even explain, Sturgis2013 enemies?

so not to wonder, while the bike not towed found in No Parking,

after the other loading cars front and back were gone an hour or more later

after prime eating time and into drinking aka bar crawl time,

I don't do had passed by someone supposedly telling me

I have something extra in the bags, etc, not the first time,

"they" are telling me when to get gas,

almost have my own security detail, probably have to pay them

like Obama or something, taking out his people, (lost a bball bet?,

not likely, or beer gate?) but traveling alone, too far and cold to go up to

run away from home to Maine, more camp to learn the R&Rs

Reading wRiting and aRithmetic...

More like Cider House Rules or a John Irving Novel,

the pink water bottles were just in pink and

recently got sick on pink lemonade, in the 'burbs

the easiest to spike, I'm told, the after taste something

different at another place that didn't seem to like me one bit,

the general trend actually,

Damn Yankees move like carpet baggers to the south,

Mere Yankees mind their own business and just tourist it,

like fly boys and girls to the *keys and Florida for the winter,

I remember fast food lobster talking about it or writing about it,

not sure which, would have to find a link to prove it,

like crabs on the eastern shore, not a white linen cloth type place,

champagne and caviar (maybe sparkling cider?)

as lobster is normally served to southerners, the local business, a good idea,

and the execution complete, I went, saw. ate and what usually happens with a BAD

foodie, I got sick.  A bit fast on the chowder the next am, I ate it for lunch,

early lunch to celebrate the night befores' successful outing and

back in the bathroom some the next afternoon,

likely my reaction to lobster, butter, mayo, or eating how most people eat,

high fat, or "high on the hog", we would say, in the country, if I were still there,

but I digress, I went, I saw and they concord... Mass that is...

OK they do jams, or something, but I forget, just stop the blathering

and get to the next writing...  Try not to make enemies, you might want to go back,

probably said I would, but like blowfish and whatever is bothering me now,

the cut or cracked tire, or the sudden heat flashes,

We are a country divided, like a red bandana I pick up in my neighborhood,

wash and use for snot, or overboard flag, or the blue ones I want to wear,

not really knowing the gang limitations other than someone spitting in my helmet

or something worse, and having to wear what I had to cover the smell

until I can try to clean it out, not a fun thing for thinking about with writings about food,

but after the last burger closer to home maybe what the world thinks of me,

still running the dialogue likely from the mass of people swarmed at lunch time,

as messy burger, time to find another one, and duck, not say I'm writing,

they already know, but well, someone hates me enough to make my life sick,

a living hell... GamesPublicHousingPlays2010  in reruns?

Good job, the Great State of ME, not Maine, the other

puritanical place Virgins, we have to protect them, better make guns,

and well, lobby on everything but african americans or african canadians,

I recently read, to see who immigrates from european americans,

and learn what diversity is all about, RacismAnonymous

or ReverseRacismOrReverseSlaveTrade

ethnic food in our own country,

a southern Mississippi creole, but we don't like spice, drop that from the

lobster roll or make it optional and we can spice it how we want, like BBQ sauces,

(tangy, mild, mesquite like BBQ chips in the bags) and I might have been already,

the oyster crackers I like used to eat those with butter only,

and well Trader Joe's has boxes

Conclusion

Summary of experience or similar

Drivel like the runs is best done in a planned time and place,

likely my diet of bad feelings spilled over onto the page,

figuratively on the web, therapy not healthy, for me, to share so publicly,

but I said I would write, or might, so here it is, another place I might not go back to,

not because of them, likely, a good business startup, just an over indulgence

and a need now for spell checking the draft, not a grudge list,

just a way of seeing the world, differently, like my first published Ode to a Farmer's Market,

OdetoaFarmersMarket

homeless might want to take it out, if you can afford $18 appetizer with soda and chips,

treating yourself say to becoming 50 years old, wonder what the next will be

FusionImprobableattheKennedyCenter

if I piss off more people, at least tales of my death will be premature,

or greatly exxaggerated, one burger at a time, the counter help likely to hate me more than

the fur people for meat MeatForVegetarians  and the other issues we currently have

Red or Blue, with a flag of Red White and Blue, how the hell did we get a Black president? /grin

Street fights in Congress like some other countries, what is happening to the playgrounds?

Also known as adults?  What model are we setting for these youngins?

Ice cream sandwich, they were out, and it was too cold for me anyway,

maybe an apple crisp or blueberry cobbler?

They had blueberry soda, something I've not tried, nor heard of before,

maybe try some other time...

My Just Desserts, getting sick for my future 50, the downhill slide,

almost luge like pre Olympics, the hills of ice and streets uncleared,

we, where the town's known by others as the big cemetery place

and odd sided levatated building,

can borrow county owned snow plows for the local trails,

but that is a little much, maybe planting some food for the rabbits and deer

and wouldn't it be nice, cute friendly bears along the W&OD

between the backbone of metro WAN / WiFi

that could help protect jogging peoples, along high power lines

fields so strong that they can supposedly magnetize things on the poles,

according to some obscure likely literature reference I can't find at the moment...

...

But I digress... As usual, says more about me, the supposed writer, than them, the food place...

Picnic benches are for summer time, like the sunset photo published in mid winter my first big last word type StreetSense photo credit?

I need to fly (read ride) south and getting too old for the cold (tm)...

Discussion

A place for feedback on the page presented

Good and bad food experiences?

Fast food got you down?

High living not a fun happening

Want to get down and dirty?

Ever plant a garden, kill some weeds, and make the flowers grow pretty?

Don't plants have feelings too?

What's that got to do with the price of locally grown lobstar?
