MacGyver50TNG2016

Introduction/Definition/etc

Some new TV shows, similar to the old TV shows, but other crap too...

Body

SPOILING

I can't write about it without spoiling it, so if you recorded it, TiVo, MythTV, bought the rights, rented it on iTunedOut, GDrugPlayToPlay, etc, have ripped it, and can't watch it yet, maybe wait to read below, nothing major, but I Told You So...

MacGyver

New and updated, and barely recognizable, with lots of name dropping, flashy CGI type and sped up graphics, Mission Improbable situations, boats, helicopters, airplanes, bombs, explosions, and drama too...

Plus some love interests,  a faked death, biological threat(s) with demonstration deaths in very remote places and even a black presumably good guy cooking...

So bad guys are still out there, and someone with a pocket knife, duct tape, satellite comms, camera glasses and a killing buddy and an MIT degree or few, can save the world, according to Hollywood...

Why the C.I.A. doesn't know about DXS, is beyond me...

They must be the kewl kids, in a private country club, or something...

And the Phoenix Foundation is taken, as is the deranged female goth/emo/label++ like bad girl hacker personna...

Why not just call it the Centre?

Yep...

Hawaii50

MacGyver is followed by another flipped show, and a third later, I didn't stay up for, even on a Friday night, as boring to me and falling asleep anyway(s)...

50 maybe the code for Police on the radio, like 'Drop a Dime' on someone, or 21 Jump Street, idk, but it hasn't really been updated, as 50 Cent took over the number, and other stuff too...

McGarrett (sp?) lives, maybe as a guy at the recovery chapel, and some serial killer gouging out eyes of tourists, gets the mayor's offices' attention...  Ancient Chess pieces appear with the dead bodies mouths like mob name calling cards and numbers, plus elsewhere, and they seem to be trying to help the officers, even iff killing off the bad guys is reasonable, even the cop with the donated liver and/or kidney, partners fighting like brothers, maybe they are/were both, as they seem similar, both like transplanted New Yorkers, afaict...  Seemed like they are the same person, and could have been recorded as playing some others like The Nutty Professor, and/or Tyler Perry, or something...

Chase scenes are dramatic, almost like buildering, and skateboarding and other weird stuff like Parkour? as are the panoramic views of the island, beaches and high rises, updated for the development of the island, but missing the Tom Selleck's (sp?) Fararri (from prehistoric Magnum, P.I., well before he was a loner cop in a small rural town in New England somewhere, and then citified Blue Bloods, also playing sometime recently, but less interesting, as not an ancient history remake)

Look up the show names, and see what it's all about, you have other chances to see them, likely YouTube, Hulu, and other probably paid services, as MeTV, COZI, etc will have to wait decades to put them in reruns, if they make it well enough to have many episodes, again...

S.W.A.T. on Bounce was probably better, but would have to have more attention span for that melodrama...

What about The Pretender?

And Burn Notice?

Some of that was more than just esoteric hide your toys type stuff...

Conclusion

Summary of experience or similar

You can't go back to your childhood T.V. programs, and why would you want to?

Brady Bunch, the Partridge Family, the Munsters, and later Doogie Houser M.D. (sp?) much less Mod Squad, and other blacksploitation shows like Moving on Up: the Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, and Dynomite, J.J. Walker?

Well a lot o those stars are probably dead now, moved on to the big screen in the sky, after childhood acting careers turned into something ,and /or nothing, or somewhere in between...

Discussion

A place for feedback on the page presented

What are your favorite T.V. shows and video games?

How about cartoons?

Are all things broadcast? So that you don't have to have expensive cable/satellite, etc access?

Are they baby sitting daytime shows?  And/or night prime time, pretend to grown up and get nightmares from it shows?

How would you remake some of the shows you like, from say a few years back, and/or decades, if you have been alive that long?

What would your budget be?

Who would you star in them?

Would you bring back some of the old stars, to play cameos?

What about old standbys of Star Trek, and Star Wars?

TNG (The Next Generation) worth the effort?

What about spinoffs?

Marketing?

Would it adapt to a school play?

Science project?

Business model?

What ever happened to reading a book instead?

Would it be worth staying home, assuming you weren't grounded, had T.V. and internet privileges turned off, etc, to say skip watching Joan of Arcadia, instead?

What social life would you want to replace watching T.V. alone?

Is it really punishment to be watching T.V. at home instead of out with friends, dealing with family, and/or watching with friends, having Hangout running to spoof and deride the show while it's playing in real time...

Standard disclaimers: one would have to have friends, and care about such stuff...  Like it matters...
