Some assembly required,

and no batteries included, first thing I

started noticing is what was in the box,

and what the previous people had done,

did I get a dud by not paying full price?

 

Sonar Ultrasound, basically eyes package were opened,

so something suspicious there,

remote controller plastic bag open,

not torn, nor cut,

like with scissors, but flap over

with sticky adhesive, the battery

compartment slide in thing was ajar,

so wonder about that one,

someone messed with it and holiday gift,

pill size coin batteries, so not too young,

AS A RISK...

 

Continue to inventory stuff,

and maybe that is all,

someone in the Meltdown,

and Spectre like cashiers areas

while giving all my personal information

away to anyone nearby, behind, staff,

and maybe auditing

feds/state/ local law enforcement,

as there is a pattern there,

despite my objections, continue to

ask for verbal information, while the

receipt says, we value your privacy,

the candy free isle,

pickup window, isn't really better, more

snickering and snobbery, stay with the

general population, sometimes better,

try pulling you aside, maybe people known

to be a problem, nearby and sort / mod

the execution queue, or better yet

change the software, so they don't require verbal

voice check and neighboring cashiers to

check if you are the person/ cardholder,

and giving away your address,

full identity, and phone number,

or whatever, card number, etc,

as one time a person coming out of my

unit upon return, right after the

cyber spooks type incident..

Assembly, screwdriver,

philips and hex (took  while to figure out,

double headed, so pull out and flip around

and no soldering,

as phone jack type plugs (RJ-11/25/45?) to connect motors,

pass thrus on the chassis,

small components, more like stereo system blocks,

to the informal bus on phone type wires...

 

The front line following sensors and wheel combo

was the main problem i had in assembly,

but i found how it was supposed to go,

from the 3D model in the app,

(like I suggested in MeccanoMeccasaur2017

could have had, but didn't last i checked,

that build still not complete,,.)

 

 

Having to wait for battery finding,

and going in for more parts, as

GoogleAIYVision2018

and a yet reported display with case

to the RPi3

 

Battery Needs

2025, iirc,

and a 3.7? V Lithium Ion/Polymer

cell phone like, but had from AdaFruit,

BEFORE MICROCENTER STARTED SELLING HER STUFF,

 too large for the provided case, but Velcro tm?

hook and latch tape for the 4+? AA battery holder

worked, with both, stuffing in, and non latching,

but robot isn't very high speed,

the non rugged wheels may end up being a problem,

kind of like the WowWeeCoderMIP2018

apparently yet to be described on it's own page...

flimsy and likely to break,

so need a box and safe things for transport,

the included blue purchasing box,

with trays out will hold it, though slide around a lot,

but magnet on the box lid/ edge,

is worrying, as strong magnets near components,

much less credit cards, etc may be a problem,

in the long run...

 

4 Modes

 

Remote driving

 

use remote or app and just tell it  where and how to go...

 

Wonder around

 

Semi autonomous mode

 

use sensors and scope out the space,

find edges of the room,

but can it report back dimensions?

3x3 closet/ playpen?

or 10x10 living room?

clutter and obstacle levels?

dog/cat sleeping  in the middle/

where?

something in motion around me

helicopter mom/dad/programmer?

overlord/ helper?

add the ir sensors follow me mode,

let me show you a path thru the

obstable ridden minefield?

obstacle avoidance skills?

 

now upgrade to a two wheel bicycle simulation

and add pedaling, balance and then right of way,

sign reading, speed,

later figure skating style 

freestyle points

and judging performance modules...

fall over not fail, if non fatal,

start over, upright or from the top?

rehearsals?

 

Programming

 

Scratch 2.0

from MIT is likely the blocky type stuff,

One laptop Per child,

THE BOX HAS one robot per kid

SOME PLACE AND child ELSEWHERE,

(THIS SMALL KEYBOARD HAS A Build in touchpad,

INSTEAD OF MOUSE, BUT KEY TO key

and odd placement, typical of anything winblows,

GearHead, and wired, not bluetooth,

so more problems,

but less batteries,

so part of the problems, and screen size

zoom in, chromium browser,

giving insane font change size on me

and other ways to have odd looking output...

 

Maybe get it in edits, not free writing,

but who can?

 

Someone may have wanted the Wifi instead of Bluetooth version,

a difference of one module, or block, afaict,

some other parts available, but the $350+tax

ultimate kit is likely the whole shebang,

making multiple bots`(10  variations) with all the accessories,

the low end starter robots, only gets you addicted,

hooked/ lockin to their way of selling to you...

 

Aluminum chassis is nice, blue and folded,

wonder about the cleaning of it,

as toxic chemicals typical of anything electronic, metals, etc

imported, and domestic, likely too,

but more easily to complain,

a Chinese company, so might be screwed,

the last cashier said they are having Chinese New Year,

so things are slowed down or to a halt,

while here in the states, football weekend,

maybe we go to a stand still,

then enter the Winter Olympics, 2018,

Mardi Gras, and other problems of daily living,

St. Patrick's Day, and back to normal,

ish like temperature, the Ground Hog, day just past,

i didn't hear, 8 more weeks, or less? (6?)

 

Anyways, more to write about,

much more to learn, the

case clear over the Arduino like

and listed on their site,

i had heard of them, and invited to a

Chinese new year, but declined, too tired,

and ended up not doing much with them,

as they went gdrug hangout,

and i'm behind the curve,

no olpc xo-3+ for me, as not corporate buyin

or good enough to have an approved by council like

project, despite writing, if you call it that on

their media wiki...

 

Typos to be found, zooming the screen,

and spell check, to be done,

Maybe an hour to assemble,

unpack, turn screws, learn about the app,

find my mistake, turned around, the roller

not working, so used different holes,

but turn around, and find batteries,

is a back to the store and find another store

issue, as they don't even carry all the batteries

for what they sell, a discounted Ultimate GPS

and still haven't found batteries for that by number 

2020 or 1220,

dyslexic and have to have a shopping list,

or carry with, uncased and vulnerable bare boards,

plus taking in what previously bought to buy

more, and the commercialism traps,

then discrimination, and other not SUV soccer dad

type place issues...

Summary of experience or similar

 

For the price, discounted, interesting move from

just toy to some assembly and learning required,

the speech part of the app,

"What's your name, soldier?"

type query didn't work,

but as a home for wayword electronics,

something the currency folks said they may

support or homeless,

profiteering for a purpose, robin hood ing?

unless they were the anonymous people who

stole millions from the Asian markets, spending

a hundred here and there to avoid being detected?

 

But i digress, more McGyver like, as i missed

that normal night too, never really took to it,

the 2.0 version...

 

 

Discussion

 

A place for feedback on the page presented

 

Would would need one of every type of robot,

a completist, some antiques collector/

hoarding show might propose,

or just a small sampling of stuff,

to consider yourself well versed in robots,

in today's day and age?

 

How much hacking do you need to do?

 

Some idears are adding solar panel,

charge it in the day light,

like solarbots, and up to RPi bot,

adding the MegaPi and going back down

to the Arduino core, from first parts,

and build similar from scratch,

bend your own plate,

determine holes where and when,

and what other configurations can be

done, tracks are one option,

more tank like, but more rugged, to travel

the hard case injection molded of the toys

may have it's place to protect, giving skin,

shell like to protect the parts,

added gear, and remote was gift,

wander around mode, sensors finding most,

but not table legs, chair legs,

and it's still a puppy wrapping itself around things

helplessly looking up, if it had more of a face,

smile on the grill, and eyes are sensors, not coloured like

WowWee CHIP,

 

Maybe take apart some old ink jet printers

and get some sensors,

and learn enough from videos

like for adding to RPi and Arduino, and

might have something, FrankenBot,

or similar custom bot,

not impressive, but more of my own design/

build/ trashbot, freecycle special,

poor man's/ old kids bot...

 

Nothing to write home about,

but what is?

and whom is left to write to?
