Introduction/Definition/etc

A tropical fruit,

and how to

for creative writing purposes...

Body

Original Text

Especially Good with sweet coconut rice

but that requires eating out,

cooking, and/or having other tropical

ingredients, a fresh mango

is likely a treat, for Northerners;

The way orange marmalade

is a no no in Local Food

Farmers Markets, so

maybe a guilty pleasure,

for purists, idk

I'm anti-guilt...

Preparation

Need a knife?

not tried without,

but some foodie MacGyvers (sp?)

might be able to, idk...

Messy

Napkin, paper towels,

over the sink, waste basket,

outside, etc...

Like eating a CheeseBurger

dripping with juice,

a mango is also messy,

especially if you do certain

things,

ToothPick Necessary

Many times the fibrous hairs like

require getting them out of your teeth,

not that they would work as floss,

but might help remind you to floss...

Selecting

Mostly ripe, as buying clearance

two for $1.29 or so

3 for $1.99

shrink wrapped in cling film

with a label and price

but not a weight

Turns out the local Aldi has

regular ones for less..

But selecting and waiting

for them to be ripe

needs a trade off with getting

bad, spotted, fermenting

one(s)...

Refrigerate as better cold,

imnsho...

Might even be ok, starting to freeze,

but leaving in too long and trouble cutting...

Shape

An odd shape, think Avocado,

but not as round, teardrop shape?

seed from an apple,

and a big pit/ seed inside,

Stringie unlike peach and avocado

can't really separate it from the pit,

so left slurping/ eating on the

parts left connected to the pit,

if willing to be messy.

Attached about as well as a

clam/ oyster, keeping itself

closed, as it wish(ed)...

More vegan friendly,

plants are/ were alive,

and eating their reproductive

but not as bad as navel oranges

and things that will not produce

anymore like donkeys/mules?

Various other fruits and vegetables

can be used to practice both geometry

3D, and knife skills for those

qualified, (old enough, coordinated enough,

and supervised (sp?), etc)

Potatoes for CookSomeThing2019

SmallFries2020 but no automatic

fry cutting machine available,

that i know of, some automation

likely, just not easily encountered,

like apple peeling machines

rotate, and peeling variable size

instead of knifed form mashing thru

making uniform results, even from

uneven sources, so more waste,

given lots of odds and ends,

seconds, damaged with

ThePracticalitiesOfFoodDistribution2012

BeggarsCantBeChoosers2017

though these are much more likely

store bought

even if discounted

for ripeness and cost

similar to a gleaning for

less waste and savings...

Cover Skin

Skin like surface

check for blemishes and breaks in the

skin, as may be bad, that way...

Colour may vary, green may mean

not ripe yet, but totally another

may be a variety, would have to check

many so far are multi coloured,

and Pink brand name on it,

though not really pink in colour...

Belly Button

where it connected to the tree,

and no leaves or anything around it,

like occasionally would see on an apple...

Cutting Skin Quarters

Along the stem hole bisecting

the flat side

Along the edge, not going too/

very far in as can cut again,

but getting through the skin to peel

with the knife, if necessary,

back from the pointy end,

getting underneath and using

the dryness of the skin

as things get juicy and slippery

especially with over ripe

or bruised mangos...

Bisecting under the peel

Like partial moon slices,

maybe peach sections

cutting more than bisecting skin/peel,

maybe three more sections,

so 12ths of the thing,

depending upon desired size

and starting fruit size,

still in the same way,

and possibly getting underneath some

too, as can cut out from the pit a bit,

but careful not to cut yourself,

much easier than climbing a tree

to get CocoNuts, and then trying to open

them, imnsho...

not as spikey/ sharp a fruit as PineApple,

and there are devices for preparing those,

a form that cores and cuts the outside,

but little variations for size of the original fruit?

more waste possible but ends up standardized

say for fitting in a can/ jar for preserving...

Avocado Like Seed?

So with the pit, can you plant it?

make another plant, starter plant learning/

Avocados you put toothpicks as legs,

maybe Daddy Long Legs like

I don't live in tropics enough so not likely

to work, but something to consider,

a fair amount of waste otherwise,

the skin can be scraped with your teeth

to get a little bit more mango flesh

(i think it's called that)

off of it...

What Can Not Be Found?

How To Analyze?

Lenses

Assumptions

Time Limits

Not sure how many days

mangos are good in the fridge,

likely longer than out,

and better cold, imnsho,

especially when warm out/inside...

A seasonal fruit,

so likely a lot of extra shipping

taking place,

like bananas, afaict,

not great for the environment,

but most of what we have locally

gets boring, like apples,

say one per day for years and years,

or eating exclusively Local,

say from a local farmers market,

apples keeping over winter,

but mangos or citrus up from Florida,

South America, split seasons,

might be the way of commerce,

and survival.  Not sure about

canned, but seen dried,

like apricots, but not...

might be good on those,

like peaches on pancakes

(with syrup) but usually savory

beans, chili, etc...

FoodBooks2020

not really have them in there,

much, but writing exercise,

might be better, to add,

to my collection of works,

if any good,

polish like an apple?

GrokMango

to consider

WikiPedia

recipes

how to sites

compare after done mine,

especially if edit and polish this

up a bit...

Conclusion

Summary of experience or similar

A lot like a clam and/or oyster,

might be an aphrodisiac (sp?)?

Interactive, messy, therefore fun eating?

stringy like hairs, but not,

and shaped suggestively?

IDK, not really into that...

First seen really outside a bar

in the Adams Morgan/

Columbia Heights / PetWorth area(s),

as a street food,

in a sandwich bag

asked if want salt with that,

and with pit,

started buying and eating at home,

as seasonally going to TBH near there,

not staying for the bar(s),

they drink, i don't want to be around it,

and like the rather healthy nature

of fruit, juicy, thirsty, and

keep thinking on sweet coconut rice like

dessert topping...

Bananas also good,

those one can eat

more on the run,

once peeled,

maybe open/ start the peel at a stop,

this one likely have to stop,

requires? a knife,

maybe prepare ahead,

and bag like the street food method,

adding salt for contrasting pairing

though maybe walking with

like a burger in sleeve like wrapper,

or fries in the little packaging,

or open bottle drinking covering

the label of booze...

Discussion

A place for feedback on the page presented

What ways do you eat mangos?

any reason besides mess and transit

not to?

Ever tried an avocado pit?

Get it to sprout?

Plant it?

Ever produce anything,

or just a starter plant

to see anything grow?

Would it work with mangos?

are they requiring a green/hot house?

Water and huge mango grove mesh

messy swamp like plant/ tree/ grove?
