Introduction/Definition/etc
Body
Reading a young person's book,
though age and ability don't necessarily
correlate with intellectual and other disabilities.
The book describes in a fictional way,
a boy's life, Ben, and his friend(s),
Andy, meeting an alien, eventually named Zeke,
which drops from the sky,
Another friend, a girl, Lisa, has a mouse
Most characters have special interests,
be it mice, computers, sports, etc,
though some are seen as NT (neurotypical),
Parents, GrandParent, Teachers and
School Administration, Even remarrying
and other issues are involved, Stranger Danger,
and hitting.
It gets somewhat pendantic (sp?),
but like a lot of stories, it probably has
many levels. Kids might read it as adventure,
while adults and those with Asperger Syndrome
might see it differently. I was never much for
fiction, so always wanted the facts, not decyphering
the lies, from the reality. But this is a mystery,
as most human interaction is with people with Asperger's
and other Autism Spectrum disorders.
I'd probably recommend this, not sure
how someone would respond to it,
I liked it, somewhat amused by parts of it,
and it was a quick read, something I find
takes a long time with many books
of the multi hundred pages variety,
and large fonts and small pages
with diagrams/ illustrations make
it feel more like an accomplishment,
and success...
The Secrets of NIMH came to mind,
as did other stories, ET, the movie,
and other Close Encounters of the Third Kind,
and other Science Fiction, some of which
is directly mentioned. Star Trek, though
maybe Star Wars, I forget...
Run Rabbit Run, a title of a book,
I don't recall reading, seems similar
as a mash up of many books and
threads, only the author could detangle
for the readers...
Saved By The Bell, a US TV show,
likely on Internet too, seemed to be
alluded to, though actual computer games,
I don't know anymore, but could look up...
Book mentions Kathy as author of
two other Asperger Adventures:
Lisa and the Lacemaker
Blue Bottle Mystery.
The author is a teacher in Australia,
and some of the sayings / language
is English (mum, for mom,
University, as in College,
.
