Introduction/Definition/etc
In preparation for Pancake day tomorrow,
partially a religious thing,
Shrove Tuesday
aka Mardi Gras,
or some such,
but been looking at grains anyways,
and these are easier to cook
than a full (quick) bread, sometimes
(been thinking not having to
watch a skillet,
a waffle iron,
automated,
and turns self off,
timer settings,
sensors
when done, etc,
vs play a game for ~2+ mins
watch for hard edges,
bubbles,
and turn,
may be easier,
except for cleaning,
which if removable,
and electrical,
grease, batter, etc
getting in there,
and young people,
old people,
disabled,
etc with fire, heat, and other issues
possible to make it universal,
gluten free is kinda covered,
as there are mixes there,
and some probably do from scratch anyways,
you can add just about anything to it,
blueberries (my fav),
pecans (rarely have them),
chocolate (makes a mess?
idk, i'm not a chocoholic)
You can/ may top with or
some things can go in,
mostly it was a sponge for maple syrup
growing up, real maple syrup,
as got spoiled on that,
and you can eat them along the way,
(use like bread for sandwiches,
if low on bread)
make stuff with them (waffle variations,
ice cream cones, etc), etc...
It's the butter
(margarine, alternatives to fats/ sugars?)
and syrup that makes it difficult to
eat on the run...
But somehow they tried/ did/do
in the Pancake Race(s)
That got messy,
needs to be in the body instead,
control detail???

Original Text
So I used to make pancakes,
a lot,
as previously mentioned,
and gotten away from it,
some,
but looking at ingredients,
mixes, boxes, and variations,
and seemed like a time to write something
down about it, if you call it (/this) writing....
So Aldi's Baking Powder
contains aluminum,
while the name brand Rumford's
touts aluminum free,
and i seem to recall
a scare a while back about that,
looking at the Aldi's
Baker's something brand line,
and some of their other stuff does too...
OpenFoodFacts had some information,
but trying to add it and sodium,
did not enter well, when i could get my
smart phone camera to focus that closely,
and get it off shiny cans,
and other types of packaging...
So collecting the products and mixes,
as opposed to doing it by scratch
which requires:
flour,
corn meal,
baking powder,
egg(s),
oil,
milk,
and variations allowed on that,
substitutions of egg replacer,
lactose free milk varieties
soy, rice, almond, etc,
oil is mostly for cooking in a skillet,
and not sure if leavening agent
allows using baking soda,
and i recently learned baking powder
is cream of tartar plus something else,
so might be able to go to components,
or use some leavening agent equivalents,
like you ran out, found out it was old,
don't like aluminum in your food,
(did research on why that is,
causes, x,y,z, or whatever trendy
scare/FUD, medical misinformation,
marketing, etc, as probably been
the magic behind yeast free quick
breads of certain types, can't get
it and want it to rise,
make small bubbles
other ways, etc...
Some mixes
Bisquick
contains lard?
there is a lower fat variety,
TJs MultiGrain mix
add corn meal
Buttermilk
House brands
Gluten Free
Rice
list those here,
maybe spreadsheet
off of Breads,
generalized to Grains???

What shapes can you make your pancakes?
Mickey Mouse ears?
Dribble Tail?
Dollar size?
Big as the skillet?
Why are crepes easier?
Swedish?
What's a blintz (sp?) anyway?
What construction projects can be made
with a pancake?
How high can you stack them?
Of what size?
thickness?
density?
Do you need structural reinforcements
like some cakes to keep them from
being the leaning tower of Pizza (sp?)
Does the Cherry on Top mean anything?
or is it just a kid level treat?
adding colour
(hopefully natural?
non FDA red, etc)
for presentation purposes
Is the whipped cream necessary?
What about the butter?
What other options are there?
