Some things and people wear out, some by design...
Body
Back in the day things were made to last, but with technology marching ahead, sometimes they design to have them fail, and some times badly...
So the life of a computer may be 5 years, and the one I'm on is past that...
Some things that go on it are:
Touchpad: seems broken to start, it's in the middle and a wrist type rest built in, but you can't really type without hitting it,
Disk Space: with the marching needs of operating systems, MacOSX included, and planned life times of that, you had to upgrade, and pay to do so, which I didn't as went, quickly to rEFIt, and put Linux on it, but that got replaced with something else later, so not really supported any longer... so you would have to do a reinstall of the whole drive, backing off to something else
Batteries: the battery died a while back, not just low, but will not charge anymore, and when the plug goes out, sometimes hit when moving it around to go to the bathroom, say, it just dies. Battery built in, so have to take it to the store to fix it, can't just drop one in yourself, and sealed case, with special tools, like the old Mac, Banana9000 taking special tools to get into it, so that your average Joe could not do it, but your average Joe the Plumber may not be Mac Certified, know what special sauce is in the beast, and other issues, besides money...,
Software: Running Ubuntu, the Debian for the Masses, or whatever, while Ian Murdock was still alive, and the hard core one, with a pretty face, until Unity and other stuff, stopped working, likely package conflicts, so went to Red Hat's Fedora, which obliterated the booting of the old one, killing the grub stuff, which wouldn't boot, but at least pointed to the right stuff, for Yackety Yack, or similar coming out within a month, now in Beta2 testing for 16.10 release, LTS (Long Term Service, not sure, which year that is... They support a long time, but getting updates, and you have to keep up with them, both for the new stuff you want, and the move to the next one, I usually do dist-upgrade, and try to install in place, not the clean fresh install that most who have ample disk space , money and ability to do other stuff, have...
Phones: an iPhone4 has been past end of life, with an upgrade option for a while (unspecified, but sales people always want your money, and to talk to you, whether you want to or not), having had for about 5 years also, many things bought at first to see how the other half live, now coming to an end, it seems...
And someone may have stolen my subsidized phone, it went missing, and an attack was near then, so maybe what they created a disturbance to get, in a restaurant, with a security camera on us, while getting away from the poison sprayed in my apartment, by nasty people, forcing their way in, and being nasty too, asking about my stuff, and trying to steal it too... The attackers wanted to know where the Deer where, and other abusive stuff... So take the perp out back and treat it like the deer?
Followed by further attacks at a bank to get quarters to do laundry, and they wanted to know where I live, and other attacks, some nasty pretending curious person starts asking questions, claims to not be from around here, and it gets worse with the teller ridiculing, asking more questions, and trying to sell loans, likely one fired from a previous branch for more gang like harassment, and basically Latino's and African Americans only, with possible exceptions of people with money in suits, to take their money and get them to sign stuff, like signature loans, not autographs, etc...
Obama: time coming to an end, the 8 years are about up, election time looming, and we get more terrorist type attacks, this time lone wolf type attacks, that some think are being claimed by ISIS, or whatever the current enemy is, bombs, and three cities, and other problems. Charlotte, NC, rioting, after years/ decades/ lifetimes of systemic racism, reverse racism, etc...

New season, new shows, and some old ones had to drop off, not much on prime time, and usually have other things to do during that time, but skipping that, as attacked there, mostly followed around and attacked, like someone(s) has designs to eliminate me from the planet, systematically, besides the crazy, hateful manager, and others Latino, Gang and not...
But about the show, wheelchaired kid, and Minnie Driver, a deaf woman herself, or confusing the names, someone similar, maybe made a career, but maybe not her, have to check facts, seems to, in a Hollywood type fashion (menaing loose with the truth, and glossing over reality, like funny doc, is Hunter "Patch" Adams, M.D., a local high school (WakeField) grad according to wikipedia... Wavy Gravy from The Farm, doing WoodStock's food and security, having made WoodStock '99, the one that the trailers burned after $5 water, and other problems, I sunburned, had hide under trailers for shade, but first day out most of the day in the sun, and could really only go for Raves and other stuff, missing most of it, staying in a tent to avoid losing stuff, and paying more for medical, it guess... But got the T shirt, Hat, and bragging rights, maybe seeing Lincoln Park, and/ or Cypress Hill or some other rather heavy stuff, not my generation, but like my dad, getting used to it over time, the turn it down, when he came home from work, and started cooking, I guess the other work, for single parents, joint custody and every other weekend with mom... Commuting, shuttle diplomacy, we called it, they picked a half way point, and weekends ended when changed over, back to school work, homework and prep for the weekdays... Not a lot of social time when not there half time, but not that good at it anyways, and other issues...
But Obama would go to Wakefield, not likely other ones as not as diverse, the upgrades to that school finally happened, I had swam there back when I lived in a house in North Arlington, the public schools have indoor pools, some with sliding glass windows and stuff to try to make it seem outdoor in good weather, but without the normal 50 meter pool, Olympic and competition size pools, some jurisdictions have, not sure what the current ones are like, my beached whale time is about over, afaict...
Mostly I'm seeing about 8 years later, the Recovery stuff has gone passe, some Drop In Centers likely still going, the movement happened, and keeps going, but only a few paid to do that, even slave wages, one executive director/ VP, whatever, and others paid to keep it open, but likely lots of little people, maybe keep below SGA, Substantially Gainful Activity, the Social Security definition of whether you can work, a small side job, not the same as self supporting, and giving some income, but likely lots of paperwork, filling paystubs, lots of harassment, if you can do some hours they think you can do all, and other crap...
The Ten year anniversary of some of this, seems to have passed, my 2004 bicycling stuff, happened, I think I went to Richmond to get way from stuff, running away, as that is what I learned as a kid, get away for a while, on weekends, thru the park, I guess the riots had cleared by then, and go explore, back when free range teenagers was more of a safe thing, nice bike and other attacks, not as bad then, if you stay within certain areas, i guess...
And decades of bicycling, the rental bikes came and replaced by another company, SmartBikes, Capital Bike Share transition, we had a free year of the new ones, with lights, dynohubs, red, instead of red and white, I seem to have to check out many times to get one out, even with a key fob, possibly falsely inflating their checkout numbers, while they await a manual verification that I can check out, and/or some other snafu... The account and billing not really worked out, keeping under the 1 hour free time, and security deposit taken care of... Wandering around and trying to find a docking station, while out and about, you seem to think there was one in a certain block and if not having a smart phone with graphics, you are basically screwed, afaict, until you learn where they are, even if Fairfax County starts along it's rail lines, offering pedal your damn self, we are SafeTracking, so you can just wait, like everyone else, in traffic...
But dad is still gone, and what he left me, the plan for Graduate School, I had talked about didn't work for me, I spent on Moto, and trips, Autism Conferences, and rentals of car(s), the car sharing, from Flex, to Zip to the little Smart ones, all having their own issues, on to seeing CooperMinis, and the design stuff on that British Motor Company history, from the designer on down to Suez Canal bought by BMW, and sold back for a Pound (roughly dollar equivalent US, exchange rates be damned) on the condition that they stop making the old one...
Storage and Smart Phone some of the regular expenses, to be like everyone else, but not that sustainable, kind of like Fracking, and Gas PipeLines, protesting the Governor, for people who's Pot Ash and Dominion Power problems are increasing instead of decreasing, a Picket Line protest started, see if he keeps his environmental promises, besides just solar...
But, by design/ programming I'm not like everyone else, not darker skinned, where being in the sun is less painful, skin and other caners likely, family is history, and other stuff not really checked as doctors, and other problems built in...

Catching up on older stuff, bought it for $1, had a microHDMI or similar adapter, and showed it, before the restaurant attack, others with cell phones, likely trying to get video of the stuff, and outing people likely making it easier to kill me off, by publicity, instead of privacy and security, not really the VIP for WorldChef, getting a teddy bear, but other Hoops and Video Stage wannabees, ...
But I digress, pulling down the Raspian, and it will not unzip, the error consistent, Torrent suggested, but that makes your address published, and getting a friend/ and / or work to do it, not always an option, as modifying open source stuff, but signatures and sha1sum results might help, Life version and other distros, making a single core without ethernet port, only one USB in, one USB out, (maybe share to a hub?), and a camera ribbon connector, not a display one, and will see what use it might be, some headers not there, but could be soldered on, kind of like the old Motorola 68000 (68k) CPUs, useful even after thir peak, for other projects, if willing to learn a different architecture, you might need to generalize out of Intel/ WIntel world, as ARM chips, and other MicroControllers exist, and the tool chain, GCC, free stuff, and contribute back to society, under the Debian Social Contract, and other possibilities, Warren Buffett and Trump aren't really friendly, according to the press, both rich white guys, most all people see, Gates also a rich white guy, and that forgets the other Gates, Mellisa, the States of Undress, and other options, BeerGate guy, and Harvard Breakins, not Watergate, but not nothing either, tracing history and your lineage, besides the Intel Community Gates, we don't hear much about anymore, maybe he will endorse someone(s)? for president? /Joke

I'm hardly a Young Republican, my father was a Republican, and it seems people do change parties, like a religion you are brought up in, the needing capital to do certain stuff, say rural electrification, coal mining, Fracking, and Medical Care, Affordable Care Act, and other stuff, not sure how that happens, the Rural v. City dynamic is getting strange, Trump trying to get other voters, besides old white guys even if people vote for people because of race, (two white people, now more of a gender issue?)
We had Roosevelt, Teddy, the second one of the bunch, also Harvard, IIRC, and his uncle or similar was the big one, wheelchaired from polio, and hidden from the press, we were mislead in what he really was like ,for the office of the president, as we were doing World War I and II recovery, Eleanor, and the New Deal, the Great Depression Dust Bowl, and famine, Bread Line and Community/ Civil Conservation Corps, taking boy scouts to the adults, and other innovative get people working on the public dime, to help the public besides just themselves, how would he be having problems with car ramps, wheel chaired logos and nasty women pulling up like you don't have a handicapped sticker on your license plate, placard? Minnie Driver, and disembark her wheel chair kid, giving the finger, a thumb up, really shit sign language, iirc... The profanity rather graphic for the couple of swear words I learned, back in the day, probably more than the three little putas, about all I know in Spanish, which i confuse French and Spanish and English in even counting to 10, in multicultural areas like waiting for food...
FDR, Jr, or similar, kind of like MLK and others, in some ways, the populist vote, maybe after robber barons, and others, getting a fair shake at life would be good for some protected and other classes of people?

Not sure about Socialism, the claim that Obama was a socialist, even made a bumper sticker back in the previous election cycles, but if you watched Reds, the movie, maybe you would know more about it...
Jack Nicholson, playing O'Niell (sp?), the playwright and author, drinking and talking to the lead female actor/ character, who was tuck on someone, who went out of the country when the red scare and Labour parties were on the rise, John "Jack" Reid, and others taking back the country from just the rich... and propaganda machines all around the world, writing about some stuff, the 10 Days that Changed the World...
Not really seeing his Handicapped, describing his life experience growing up with issues... Got buried in the back of history somewhere, like African American, Latino, and Irish, Chinese and other internment type stories...
They say people are doomed to repeat history, if they don't learn it, but some history is easier to forget, than others... Less painful, some older people were around for WWI, WWII, Civil Rights, the 1960's, and that forgets Korea, Vietnam, and the Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and other continent issues like Kosovo, Kurds, (sp?), much less various types of genocide in Africa, South America disappearing people, death squads, now Death Panels for health care and just plain Don't Cares...

Are they tired of letting you speak, say in the good old Arlington Way? Pretend to listen, then do what they were going to do anyway? Limit public comment time to three minutes, as we have a line of people waiting, and you don't matter, the silent majority/ minority?
Are the ankle biters getting you down? Mysterious bites on your ankles, from fleas, chiggers/jiggers, and other stuff you don't even have a pet, besides the fact that pets are treated better than some others of the human varieties?
