Voucher application process...

OK, so TheMainEvent2010 was a hurry up

give us all your personal information,

to see if you qualify for something that came

up by surprise, and then wait... 

 

We don't know how long, when the investigation

comes back...

And then wait.  WE have to Investigate You,

and don't know how long that takes...

 

So no planning possible on my side.

Can't get started as don't have the voucher,

or know the program, or process,

and don't know if it's worth doing,

in case rejected...

 

Get a call instead of a letter and

Information Session is in two days,

don't understand the voice time 2.30 pm?,

guessing 12.30 or 10.30 morning,

but probably afternoon, safer to be early

than late...

 

I call back and get hung up on, twice,

not listening, and tone says she don't care.

 

We submit in writing on time, or punished/

found ineligible, they just call us

randomly...

while I only get a bar or two of signal

I didn't catch as trying to get in a door,

or it's pronunciation which I don't know.

 

Message says it can be delayed,

as I know I might need to save money

for application fees, security deposits

(at full market rate, not subsidized or

proportional to income,

and there is no advanced notice,

so screwed there too... Guess you have to be rich

to have housing, which is counter to the need

and services this is supposed to help...)

but delaying means more anxiety,

and moving costs, dreadful given a house

full of stuff in a one bedroom...

 

Get there on another very hot > 90 degree day

and have 3-4 hours to kill,

as it was the later time...

 

Without crowds of people, front desk person is nice,

personable, friendly even, if not perplexed,

here hours before time?  Why?

"Better early than late", she/ they laugh and

agreed to that...

Message said > 15 mins late and have to reschedule..

I guess watching people melt down when late

finding strange and difficult building in suburban

non descript buildings is the entertainment/

or a job perk?

 

Ask about local food places, a cafe around the corner

in my brief exploration of the corporate area by bike...

 

A lot more human service organizations

around than expected, INOVA Keller

and an associated school.

 

Some kid stuff, some child payments place,

and Social Security, all wrapped around NRA

headquarters tower prominently displayed off 66,

kind of like pissing / marking it's territory

and wander near the shooting range, from a side

parking lot, small runoff pond might have ducks?

hear the shots, but luckily I'm not the moving target,

fearful that if sound travels to me outside,

how much of it would allow bullets out?

Better keep moving...

 

Looks like people in pickups and stuff go there

during the Friday lunch break...

Locked and loaded...

Find Cafe.  Lots of Stink bugs or

odd looking roaches, not sure on the small enough tree

to wrap lock around, no bike racks here,

even sign poles on the parking lot,

this area is a car place out off on Interstate 66...

 

Looking at bus routes, where and what,

not really figured out and coming from South County

a very long trip, but near the center of county government,

called internally the Taj...

But not close enough walk, this is suburbs, need a car...

And everyone who doesn't is odd...

 

And add my baggy and sweaty and very tired,

nervous and not sleeping the night before AGAIN.

 

TheMainEvent2010 so unpleasant, I can reasonably

expect it to be that way again...

 

Waiting is interesting, see the other clients,

a young kid is entertaining.  I show bike helmet light

again, teen and mom and other teen.

not sure who's baby, some age difference,

third child or kid of the kids/ teens?

 

Delightfully charming and entertaining

as kids are when in a good mood.

 

Must see it in a Curious George Adventure way,

going to an office probably to do paperwork.

But somehow she's having fun anyway...

 

Since I'm friendly I'm guessing without actual

introductions they are giving some information

about places, or just talking amongst themselves,

they know one on the list they have checked out,

it's still available, I'm dreadful of how difficult the

search is going to be...  Hence part of GoFish2010

theme and cryptic meanderings/ wandering/

and likely some philosophical ranting...

Go to a small glassed room off lobby,

freezing cold in there, luckily I had carried a sweatshirt,

light but bulky, add that over bike jersey (

remember visibility issues on TheMainEvent2010 ?)

Thought about asking to record,

as I Haven't Slept, which I mentioned

AGAIN.  But didn't seem appropriate,

as another client in the room, who's name was called out publicly

Social Security office calls take a numbers,

which is more private, more like a doctor's office,

which I never liked that reporting your name to all

the waiting room people...  They know yours

but you are leaving and don't hear theirs...)

 

So no slides, big packet of forms and info

and 2 hours of dump what information

and rules I know and you can't possibly understand...

 

Statements like "Terminated"

Clients are picky and should just take something...

(Synonym to "Clients don't look, wait to the last minute

and want extensions."

Log the contacts (much like unemployment

searching for jobs)

We run an impossible search frustrating

and inhumane, and they criticize, humiliate

and expel/ terminate...

 

"You need a case worker"

 

And reverse of said before Fairfax is Rich and Great,

we don't have money, nobody does,

we pulled back vouchers

even after people went through the pain to

SUBMIT personal information, inhumane process

find a place, move in and taken away,

I said and became homeless?

and didn't seem fair, and no response again..

 

Turns out they overbook, like the airlines,

I suggested by analogy.  No comment/ response on that either...

 

Not all are going to quality, not all are going to find

places, so send out more people and expect dropouts,

I'm guessing they are creating dropouts,

they work with a population that is poor and troubled,

and I guess after years of working with them

get jaded and cynical and expect the worst

from people, but it's self fulfilling, be nasty

and inhumane to people and they get it back...

Vicious cycle...

 

The process needs to change, and It's Beauracracy

and government and huge, so that can't happen.

Might threaten the fabric of society... 

Or it would be difficult and overworked,

underpaid (she stated no pay raises for the next 3 years,

basically what we live with, no money

and impossible situation that is dehumanizing)

except they don't have as conflicting rules

terminated, investigated, threats of jail, etc...

 

However, the rules are a double standard,

after a litany of "terminated" conditions

and threats (they probably just consider them rules),

they can repeatedly threaten us with that TERMINATIONS,

that is OK, but threatening workers is a terminating offense..

 

Even the interpretation of our responses

and statements is questionable,

so I mentioned earlier NRA nearby and not

going in as a nearby past time for 3 hour wait,

so how do they interpret that???

 

Goes on for over hours, totaling around

Two hours when scheduled for 1.5?

where I asked lots questions along the way...

 

Have no proof of the stuff said,

as didn't record.

 

And so much stuff was said in addition to

what was on the paper...

It's all on the papers, No, it's not,

interpretation and the approach to the process

is not...

 

Clearly we can't read government documents,

and beauracracy, then we are less than

and disabled, poor and incompetent...

 

They all powerful, we human trash attitude...

We must submit, do everything they say,

submit to inhuman process, stuff bordering

on ridicule and well, we are poor and losers,

so well, you deserve it...

 

But done in a way that they don't say

it directly, they must know it's against the

rules, a fireable office, so like institutionalized

racism, undercover, hidden and insidious..

 

And I'm supposedly hiding assets,

it is projected, but I said the situation,

It didn't fit on the forms, when I asked how

and what.

 

So you assume people are trash,

you treat them as such, and

keep pounding on them until they

prove what you assumed...

 

I'm seeing Human Rights violations

and Grievances (no mention of any recourse

in anything I've yet seen or heard)

and basic accommodating

disabled people problems here...

 

And not the first time with the county

human services, my year of day treatment

was that way...  Pound on the clients

treat them like shit randomly alternating

to nice on occasion and blame them

for not coming back, nor utilizing services

when all the services are about pounding

and humiliation and inhumane services...

 

Clearly, I'm one uppity difficult person,

who doesn't know his place

and the people doing it to me,

probably haven't been through things like this,

they only see one side of it, their side,

as we are employed, relatively rich and normal,

have cars, jobs, real choices, options, retirement, etc...

 

And well you are trash, beggars

and whiny complaining, non compliant

human waste, and drain on good society,

so how can you live near our country club

idealic life that county Board says stuff like

"that we all enjoy"???

 

Like David and Goliath, un under achievers

theme song, or Paul Thorne's up against

world champion Roberto Duran

going up against bureacracy,

the big fish, just sustaining a few rounds

is an accomplishment...
