Introduction/Definition/etc

Subtitled "Bicycle Adventures on Three Continents",

this 140 page book with a few black and white photos

scattered in a chapter here and there, and continent maps,

India, Africa and the Balkans/ Eastern Europe

or where ever that really is...

Body

A quick read, most are reprinted segments of other books,

or publications, as it notes in the copyright page,

and (he's an NPR person, and has segments of this book

scattered all over elsewhere, might be able to just

listen to archived NPR broadcasts instead?),

a short chapter each, and a good plan for my writing succinctly,

bike for hours each day, perhaps thinking of what to write about,

pick something interesting, make it funny, sometimes,

serious, sometimes, interleaving both,

but write it well, and describe what interesting things

you come up with along the way.

The book has so much whitespace

on the next page, and maybe a photo, plus tales,

sometimes realistic of his biking adventures...

Eating cheese and chocolate, some of his favorites,

using language that is odd to me, not foreign like

video tales of Ian somebody on PBS,

but frequently invited in by locals, other times

mislead by motorized advice, he finds the

Road Less Traveled in areas most don't tread,

like ThreeCupsOfTeaByGregMortensonAndDavidOliverRelin

but far less service oriented, less a humanitarian

relief worker, and advocate, more travel guide

like Rick Steves...

I'd wonder about seeing this on the Web instead of

in a book that took a long time to arrive, postally,

but that would not fund his adventures, and

misadventures along the road, or what some countries

call a road, like somewhere in PA, calling a hill,

really a mountain, but these countries are thousands

of feet/ meters while not K2, they are interesting for us

flatlanders, and land lubbers, and armchair tourists,

a writers and tourists dream, of finding a mate,

who can bike, even if they get sick along they way,

or get bummed...

Not a bad life, if one can live it, AFAICT...

Conclusion

Summary of experience or similar

Pick it up cheaply, if you can, or check it out

of a library, return it to a Bike Coop, or

GPS book share it, giving someone the thrill

of different places, different ideas and advice

on how to bike tour, write it up, and survive,

or better yet, live well...
