I will not be able to attend the RRWG meeting today, despite the Website
being on the agenda after being ignored for approximately 10 months...
Some information for the RRWG to consider regarding the IT projects:
1. On the Regional IT meetings held:
Doug was not present at the first (nor 2nd Regional IT) meeting, and
it conflicted with at least 3 other of my previous commitments, though
I attended what I could and tried presenting some of the discussions
we've had within the AT group with Doug out even to the detriment of
meeting time for the Website project. The group was a majority
provider group, including a lawyer and vendor and I found the tone and
setup of the meeting generally hostile to consumers (and by including
Elaine W from CWC conflicts, it became clear that the FFXCSB is
further using consumers even with the 'consumer driven' money I and
other RRWG consumers spent now over a year and a half proposing,
obtaining and meeting endlessly about without compensation), and I
reacted to it, as a minority voice.
While I had a hope that the Regional IT group would be discussing
integration and collaboration with provider systems, the setup was one
of 'we are doing this', (i.e. replacement), as a vendor said so loud
Ray and I needed to go outside the meeting room before to even hear
ourselves talk, on top of EC emails to my wrong addresses thereby
eliminating any possible preparation for another 11th hour fiscal
meeting...
The second Regional IT was also a provider majority, in fact I was the
only person in attendance from the RRWG after 2+ hour commute each way
in dangerously extreme heat, the group ended in about 30 minutes after
my arrival. This second IT meeting had Cathy Pumpfrey (spelling?)
using a projector displaying a green screen and making jokes of a St.
Patrick's day theme or similar (so soon after losing Patrick who was
born on St. Patricks day, which she may not have known, or may...) and
'we don't look back' that is at least insensitive if not inappropriate
and unethical.
2. Jim Thur and providers appear to be trying to spend RRWG Website
money on NetworkOfCare.org customizations after showing a brief canned
promo video and supposedly capturing consumer feedback/ responses. In
previous Steering committee meetings the website money was not
significant, and the CSB could fund that, but now the CSB seems to be
trying to take RRWG money for their shelved provider projects...
3. I can't support NetworkOfCare as anything near what I had proposed
for the Regional website, nor do I think as Ray has asserted that we
can get started now just because Russell is hired, which I also find
highly offensive marginalizing hundreds of hours on the wiki. At
best, the NetworkOfCare might serve as the start of some discussion on
some website features moving towards expanded components, as everyone
else has largely been silent on what they want in a Regional Recovery
website despite my efforts over the last year and a half.
4. The website money, as I originally proposed also included hardware
and setup fees for hosting including projectors for demonstrations,
training, conference, etc and connectivity options for enabling more
consumer participation, especially at drop in centers and consumer run
programs as well as 'dog and pony shows' on the road.
With the information and decisions being kept inside the EC, ombuds
program conflicts carrying over, bylaws seeming further exclusionary,
and with Phil absent from this meeting as well, I see little hope of
the dream we started out with so long ago being anywhere near realized
today nor in the near future in the current environment.
