TkPool2016
Introduction/Definition/etc
Public Domain game in the Tk/Tcl environment available on the web,
and a few more steps after that, since the commercial one got the last page title...
Body
See 8PoolByMiniCom2016 for the background on this, which will probably eventually end up here minus the commercial parts... Not good normalization, like in database design, but what are you going to do, things change, over time... The ball rolls on, whether we like it or now, metaphorically...
So Android has an environment where the TkPool example program will run, but doesn't compare favourably with the commercial game, at this point, until you start caring about how it works, knowing how the other one doesn't and have, or develop some programming skill(s) (read mad skillz...), to change and improve upon it, in an open source/ Free/ Libre sort of way, described as FLOSS (Free Libre Open Source)...
Physics paper(s) exist on billiards mechanics and one included a diagram like the cursor in the commercial game, so there was precedence before the commercialization, and academically, it goes in to the history of
Dr. Dave at Billiards.ColoState.edu
is a good start, searching for more and better, historical documents exist and described there, but to be understandable, and calculatable, (not really a word?, need the algorithms, the how the physics works to program it, kind of like subject matter, some people think knowing computers is enough, it is something, and there is always more, but knowing the application area, even is systems level, to know what you are writing about, also is necessary, according to some...)...

haven't tried it, but the computer version? of PingPong, like Atari, for those old enough to have grown up wanting one, but now realize it's so 8 bit, slow, old, not upgradeable, maybe replaceable with an Arduino (GameDuino like?), Raspberry Pi2, etc...

up in the above too, but goes to jabber server, etc... hard code that when I figure out the net environment required?
bundled? or keep separate, but non equal?
Conclusion
Summary of experience or similar
Assertions that some of this might be possible were looked into/ researched a little, and some finds put up here, no code written, nor modified, as is typical of moi, but here is a start, to play without the addiction alerts, back to good clean fun, programming, system admin, playing, learning, etc, instead of buying, waiting, losing coins/chips, and more social pursuits, on a taxed storm laden system/ i.e. net, holiday weekend, now past an example of how things go wrong, 30k-60k people on each game tier? made stuff stop working well for me, afaict...
Discussion
A place for feedback on the page presented
How do you determine if something is doable?
Can you estimate the amount of work it would take to do a project?
What project management skills are necessary to do FLOSS?
Any? Spin off anything upstream, like Ubuntu from DebIan, and modify as you wish, as long as you honour GPL/ FDL, etc..?
Or just spinning your wheels? Might not understand it, depending upon your background, interests, abilities, but I'm putting it out here as something to consider, and will see how much free time I have to look at this stuff, now that the holiday and storm/ blizzard is over, mostly, cleanup only...
