Harvard's Slavery Conference on YouTube,

in several parts, with twitter, and other

questions on colour coded (overflow building)

index cards, and some stuff about that...

The Atlantic magazine's article(s) on

The Case for Reparations,

and the president of Harvard,

a Historian, Faust, talking in panel

presentations, Q&A, and getting

Real, after centuries, but some other stuff

too...

 

So Veritas means truth, and it's in the

emblem? of Harvard, but something

dropped was about Christ, I found when

looking up what the Latin means on the

web, from a double winner, Bachelors,

SB, I think they call it for some degrees,

it predates the Bachelors type programs,

and Ph.D. in  a copyrighted disclosure

of some lies, about the statue of John

Harvard, who gave his collection of

books and some money, to create the

college, originally a Christian training

ground, the name of a building

and inscriptions used in Love Story,

and other popular media....

 

One of the sad parts, while a presenter

was talking about Georgetown,

a black tattooed man in the back, in sports

attire, who made most people cry,

and what might happen next?

 

A token black person was on each

panel, not really token, MIT, if you

consider that a concession to

be allowed at Harvard, in a panel,

didn't want to bring the quality

down, but got an applause,

many others did not, wondering

if it was because it was from the

heart, instead of more distancing

academics, and other stuff...

 

Speaking from Brown's experience,

the college/university in Providence

Rhode Island, a northern city,

and the north was not exempt

from slavery, while abolitionists (sp?)

were popular there, the shipping

companies, and cotton, and other

stuff was manufactured in the north,

as was our entire economy,

a number in the billions back in the

the day was quoted on the value

of the million(s) of slaves,

totaling more than the worth

of the rest of the country, iirc...

 

Acknowledging the debt,

was the Atlantic writers'

part, he grew up in West Baltimore,

MD and was not like his neighbors,

had talked to President Obama

at length, 40 percent of Americans

thinking Obama is a Muslim,

and he is really prepared for people

to not read his stuff, instead of the

other way around, preparing if

people do, and trying to go back

to what he likes, what give him

drive, I guess the word is,

laughing and shout out type

stuff to make sure some people

made it in the audience,

given Gates and others'

experience, maybe even getting

to the landmark event, a #UniSlave

type acknowledgment, who for

the University can talk about

it's skeletons in the closet,

and does a department chair

get to admit it and the rest of the

school just scoff at it?

 

Required reading, change for incoming

freshmen about slavery?

Would Ivy League allow that?

If not exposed to the classics,

say at the first American college

starting around 1636 and created

by government in 1638 or so,

John Harvard didn't like his likeness

shown, there is a good chance he

was not a black man, (a black Jesus anyone?)

Heresy, and names of people I hadn't

heard of, an anti lynching bill attempts

back in the day, history wants time lines,

and the former poet laureate (sp?)

moving back up to the cold, Michigan

or Illinois reading in the shortest of the

videos, most about 1 hour 15 minutes

or 1 hour and a half, iirc, this one just

15 minutes, a journal/ made up diary of

a union soldier, a black man who could

write, doing death notifications, having

to leave so much out, but we won't get

into editors, at the moment, what

was essential to tell relatives some

white illiterate men giving verbal

accounts, before they died,

and black soldiers holding white

prisoners and many other things

I'm not remembering in the middle of

the night, taking forts, ships, and

not the usual rocket's red glare type

of expressions...

 

Honesty, truth, not the same thing,

having two books about Lying,

by Bok, related or the former Harvard

president, remembering what I wrote about

battery acid used to dispose of bodies,

(lye is easier, but battery acid used to

mame women in Islamic fundamentalist

ways too) this it more genocide, and

what our country was built from/with,

and modern day people are to make apology,

amends, reparations for it?

Systemic stuff is difficult, was we

may not even have a map of what

the whole system is, economies

of exploitation, plundering, and

how it's still going on now,..

 

Stopping the plundering?

A country  based on religious

freedom, the Quakers and

Amish and others, non Catholics

(read Protestants), escaping

persecution from the King of England,

and the associated Church of England,

those two tyrannies, combined to make

life a living hell, that they would take

a boat ride, to save their lives,

while slaves were taken involuntarily,

kidnapped/ bought and sold,

say, on the modern day equivalent

of the moon or mars, for servitude,

whippings, lynchings, rapes and murders...

 

Sven, a name I did catch, was German

(maybe Swedish?), speaking English,

well, I eventually put on the closed captions,

from audio, generated, someone like for

presidential speeches may already

have a transcript of the hours

of stuff, pulling off the text, not DRM

like some images, from video players,

can't even do a screen shot,

not sure how I'm doing it, but not able

to on some stuff, others trying to get

information, like Kindle and audio books,

getting the text from the reading,

and autogenerating from that, voice

recognition, applied to an alternative

method, not sure how many people

even parse the language(s) used

in the Con...

 

 

Anyways, a place holder,

for more later, since full disclosure,

some of the NVCC Dental event,

we talked about Michelle Obama's

face looking smooshed (sp?) in,

disproportional, to me, and me using

a white man's standard,

and being informed that black faces

you can see left and right, across the bridge

of the nose more, and the profile looks different,

and wondering, does that give a sports advantage?

More peripheral vision for action sports?

I mentioning having an O'Ryan's nose,

the bump on the nose that my family pointed out,

my father, a Ph.D. who's thesis included

race, on the G.I. Bill, some black men,

and presumably woman could not even

collect the Bill..   And now that the court

cases have gone through, at least this

round after the first black president

of an Ivy League college/university,

Brown, not Harvard, Yale, Princeton,

Penn, etc, not sure how many there

are, Dartmouth, so many eastern

Atlantic schools, the same coast

line slaves were brought in on,

sugar, and the plantations,

the Harvard Law School founded,

some on the money of plantation owners

giving back, or maintaining the status

quo?

 

The Middle Passage, and RedRum,

Murder spelled back words, the

crying remembering the priests,

trusting god, that sold the slaves

of Georgetown University,

and a killing two birds with one stone

type fiscal arrangement, not freeing

the slaves and taking a loss,

they were already in debt, trying to get

rid of that too, but put them to other

slave owners, thinking Master was

good to us, by comparison, but remember

for 20 years of debate, after Emancipation?

or similar, time line, I'm not a historian,

and didn't get all the implications,

nor even much of the text, on a

marathon type viewing, part

disgusted in the behavior seen

on the screen, part twisted amazement

well, like Olmstead, where forced

sterilization of mentally defective

people, lobotomized, even Kennedy's

own clan, Rose? was scientific,

supposedly different than religion

and based on fact, the academics

created Race, as a way of explaining

the difference between people,

why a white man is superior to a black man,

and therefore an albino is better

than Harvard?

was present in the Con,

but mostly a nervous laughter,

mostly white people, a Jewish

lady? heading the African Studies

department? and other females,

mostly male panelists, being grilled,

not roasted, speaking to what

their entire universities are doing,

have done, but not as far as

what can be done, that is left

as an exercise left to the reader/

viewer...

 

Oh, BTW, slight, less than a hundred

viewers of some of the videos according

to YouTube's own viewing count, but

it's only been up a day or two,

kind of like Beware of The Ides

of March, Pi Day and all sorts

of other look ahead (sp?), there is trouble

brewing amongst (sp?) the natives/

restless DC and gentrification

happening among the college

campuses, universities, gentrification

next to Georgetown, happened,

I guess getting out of town,

Summary of experience or similar

 

Not sure what happens with this,

watching it was painful, even as

an old bearded white male,

WBM?, we used to create affinity

groups at Howard University

hosted Tavistock (named after an

English town) groups,

(and T Groups are different, both

used as training, but one Tavi

the other just experiential,

careful what the T means,

what rules for what interactions,

process, etc...)

temporary institutions,

an experimental learning tool

for all sorts of things...

 

Some questions there about

a black leader, then Obama

was elected president,

and we basically cried,

some of us caught in exhaustion

and experiencing hate, and all sorts

of other experiences, people had to

sign you into it, to make sure you were

well enough emotionally, almost

medically, so that you weren't killed

by the experience, but some ended up

dying, being raped, attacked, mobbed,

and other unhealthy group experiences

basically they kill off leaders,

and remembering Southern Law

Poverty Center, or similar (transposed?

SPLC?) names of Hate groups that might

disrupt all sorts of things...

 

Talking about difficult topics,

and how to do that, or just Denial,

not a River in Egypt, or whatever

the popular saying is...

 

How does Virginia, a southern

State deal with stuff like this?

UVA not mentioned,

NVCC created in the 1960's,

so after much slavery, as only

a community college...

American Indians?

Japanese?

Chinese? and the Railroads?

So if the new president uses other labour

to make the wall, will we owe more

to another subgroup?  Reparations and

going further into debt to other types

of people, but labeling them hostile

instead of slave, and we get away

with that?

 

What about robots, are they going to

eventually be free, or do they stay

slaves by breeding and design?

With us playing God, slavemaster/

cracker/ owner/ handler/ etc

as electronics, software and

other designers?

 

If you free your robot, will it find it's

own power, or just get run over

trying to cross the street...?

and consider what dimensions, race,

ethnicity, gender, orientation, abilities,

disabilities, tallness, language, religion,

financial, known parents, single parents,

broken home, etc...

 

Would being invited to speak at Harvard/

Radcliffe was used, advanced study,

the womens' problem of dealing

with the slaves/ domestic issues?

Authors probably should be read,

not seen, or the other way around?

Originally story telling , before writing,

and tell us a happy ending, for the kids,

on how this problem goes away?
