again this year, with some other experiences...

in the news for security and/or discrimination

related problems, a while back, and

again flying in the gym,

the secondary gym used,

well for basketball,

as another bigger flying drone place,

propwash and bigger drones relegated

before to their own space,

half the main gym for free flight,

thrown some hand built airplanes

and rubber band powered ones,

hang/fly time a biggie for competing,

not sure where they would land,

and some did show up near me

One kid, a twin or brother,

seemed to wear a flack jacket,

and helmet,

me in camoish/uniform like

riding gear, some layers off

inside and warming up/ adjusting

temperature to prepare to go back out...

 

My nose dripping on the sign in sheet,

I tried to wipe it off, and really wanted

the privacy of not signing in,

but they knew me from before or something,

the start of the shout out protocol,

not really addressing the person you

are talking to, just assuming people

listening in on everything and commenting

on everything, i generally ignore comments

like that, if someone has the audacity to

introduce themselves, then maybe get

a response, but mostly I prefer to be left

alone, the whole species is annoying,

some kids an exception, mostly younger

than teenagers, while still less attitude,

the too cute factor plays in somewhat,

but with "fame", popularity, or just

plain being old, white and hated,

for the writing, for TheShortOfIt

mental health stigma, or whatever,

it's mostly the other person's problem,

not mine, and trying to explain that,

over and over again, to random strangers

who claim to know you, when really

probably haven't even met you,

much less the biblical sense of know

you, I'd be Wilt ? Chamberlain ?,

and gay, which I'm not, for all the people

who say stuff like that...

 

A recluse, maybe, not a spider,

just annoyed by most people,

and would rather avoid, others

predatory and what can we get from

him, type stuff, which has also played

out several times, there and elsewhere...

 

I could use some quieter emails,

for registration, or out myself,

and basically declare, I'm going to

write about this, may be required

reading, and if have read previous

ones, even the one they wanted me

to write, make us famous, get us

publicity, which means money,

for us, work for you, and other

PR nightmarish stuff, they may

not have read much of what is up

here, or elsewhere, to think

it good, to be written about,

all press is good PR type

generalities...

 

Trying my discounted drones

 

While I tried some of my sale drones

I've collected since last visit,

a Protocol (thought Propel,

the smaller p one, but not)

 

Vento

a folding drone, small,

with wifi camera, and a microSD

slot, both recording means untried,

and the standby

 

WowWee Lumi,

with a little pod

(BlueTooth to IR distancing?),

that goes on the floor,

(you dropped that, you can't leave that there,

and other problems of being around others,

and a commercial bought drone instead of

tech specs, building one, and how it works,

it's just the way this one is, a gaming drone,

from a toy manufacturer, with things in the

instructions, it's not a toy, and a gear on

each motor that makes me think it's a kludgey

design... Looking recently most of their

stuff in BestBastards2018  is Fingerlings

pencil eraser type finger additions

of many different characters, with

no electronics, I'm too old for that type

stuff, and it just doesn't interest me,

if I had a young daughter, grand daughter,

or were trying to relate, then maybe,

learn more about it, but time is money,

not really for old and disabled, more like

retired, but pick my battles, and spend

my limited energy, in things I want to do,

in my remaining whatever hours on the

planet... Calculate out lifespan 74

years - 15 to 20 year discount for mental

health/poverty/others hating you for

a medical

diagnosis, assumed welfare king, etc

number of hours in a year,

and try to put a ceiling on it, lifespan max

years, subtract out the work type hours,

time up to now, and see what all is left,

overhead is high, disability, housing,

standard have to survive as a poor person,

and really not much left, it's a Not Dead

Yet situation, and then look into the airplane

crash shows on Smithsonian and other

channels likely, doing crash analysis,

realize the mood(s) of teens and others,

the modern world, post 9/11

holidays like Veteran's/Armistice (sp?) Day

the nations capital and fanatics, '

not flying geeks but someone who is scared

of drones being used overseas and

where ever, plus

tin foil hat people, "they" are listening in on

everything type paranoia, and blowback

of if you think that, then maybe "they" will,

just to f with you, a get what you give

type response, and a likely target,

flight school for the 9/11 pilots,

and then high school recruiting for

the air force, and other military and

pseudo military/ para military,

services, and the risk factors

go up exponentially, it would seem,

others have likely done the calculations,

_insert miracle here_ type stuff...

sophmoric (sp?), if that,

There is an arrive early, stay late,

for some space/ quiet/ privacy type

stuff too...

 

On a Veteran's/ Armistice Holiday Weekend

 

Yearly, and another

in about 6 months,

to support their engineering (tech)

program.

 

Concessions 🌭🥔🛢️🚱☕🤔

 

Typical kid/school fare

but no pizza, this time,

the colossal (sp?) (read big) donuts

at $2

too high a price for me,

and when they went down

in price (donuts to $1,

hotdogs w/o bun $0.50 each,

I bought 3, using remaining change,

laundry be damned, and 

I smothered in ketchup

and mustard,

hey take it easy on those, or similar...)

near the end, donuts and most stuff

already gone, rewriting the price list,

just for me, instead of crossing off 

another thing they were out of,

not stupid,

I brought and ate a clearance sale

can of organic? corn

beef jerky, turkey jerky,

and likely something I'm forgetting,

not very sweet,

(coconut snack, rather sweet, really)

while craving what the other kids have

as their lunch, treats

and care packages missing,

my father's been gone

for going on 10 years now,

but wrote down,

somewhere and packed out

the nutritional labels...

So last year, duh)

popular with students,

the original price $3.25 combo

hotdog: hot dog with bun,

chips

and a soda (no root beer,

the regular concessions owned those

again, but Sprite, high sugar,

and resulting feelings of malaise,

while high school comes back to you,

not getting what you would elsewhere,

the oppression, it seems,

maybe florescent lights,

cleaning solutions,

and only do what allowed to do

fly around in circles for 4-6 hours,

8 am to 2 pm, minus taking breaks,

many times needing to charge the

batteries, the LiPo is a 1 hour charge

for 6 minutes of flight,

at least one of mine was,

and you need to cool down

the motors too, so even with

multiple batteries (difficult to find,

for some, order online, shipping, etc)

and still need to give it a rest,

your attention span,

other things happening,

i happened to be flying

when they were calling

one of the raffle tickets,

auto/ EZ fly mode hovering

might have worked,

but power down, and all stop,

the safest method, to get one ticket

with admission out of my pocket,

both hands in use, with the BlueTooth,

smartphone remote

(luckily no incoming calls...),

instead of the

Vento 4x (some use 6x

and charge the device's LiPo

and/or capacitor

from the remote)

AA batteries, part of my collection,

charging overnight was not enough

for the 2450 milliAmpHours and

used to have 2600 NiMH Energizers,

but slow to decide

to use my laundry money,

got in and out for $10 in quarters,

a good day at the arcade

back in my era,

but had to already have drones,

or something to fly, even the holiday

excess clearance yoing kid drug store

foam like plane with electric motor

and jet like sounds, unopened,

saving something for another time,

plus the

 

WowWee RevAir

 

"AI" drone and car combo, forgetting,

possibly deliberately the batteries for

that, no rechargeables (sp?) likely allowed,

the Duracell connection even on the boxes

and pay to play, corporate mentality,

must buy extra

batteries not included type stuff...

 

Near the end, one guy nearest the outlet,

(we all agree to jump rope

over the extension

cords, so we have power at the tables,

right guys/gals/visitors???)

a model airplane guy,

officer in those clubs, likely,

wearing club attire, leaving,

and my daisy chained extension cord,

a long one packed,

was going to be unplugged,

a guy a table near me

doing smart charging little

LiPo stuff, and a drone that fell,

likely from table height not causing problems,

had a cage, something the Vento was missing,

even broke / popped off a prop,

(they gravitate to the table legs, chair legs,

aka hard landings

and basically somehow driven to commit

model airplane suicide,

and/or so someone else controlling it

may wish you to think and

hence the pilot of the prized aircraft(s) too,

that level of hate, seemed evident at times,

plus the frequencies used,

and need to know who and what is around

you, interactions and interference and

someone else's remote controlling

your bird, could be BAD...

 

School 🏫 WiFi 🥅📡📶

 

Wifi was on site, but wanted to download

an app, which never worked for me,

to get

more secure SSL or similar https type

connection, a network settings required

to do that, and tried a few times,

other things worked, downloaded

the Vento app on another smartphone,

and uploading photos, so a panorama

and other stuff went through their security,

terms of service, and other privacy problems,

oh, you play that game, we don't allow it,

and a quick am challenge of

Word Nut

would not have worked, i guess snooze

you loose, 6 am start,

8 am there, packing and getting there,

rather busy in the parking lot,

never found out what other events,

a freeze Saturday night,

but closer to cold, and worried about

ice on the water on the rides in and out,

turns for one way and loop around the stadium

outdoor/ out back, and kids playing pranks

what was that sound, trying to trick people,

worry about things, turn around to get your

face, and like you to crash, and other

problems, a guy coming thru at the end,

and had a helicopter, maybe picked up

from a table, many were on  break,

mostly me in the gym, others joking around,

telling stories of calling the FAA, and

having to scramble jets for taking down

model airplanes a call back to the teacher,

I might have to call the WaPo of why

kids can't fly drone outside, the old story,

under Obama, not Amazon and deliveries

and bureaucracy (sp?) set in, have to have

 a drone license, commercial, and that takes

FAA classes, passing the test, and a market

for test prep, that makes drone flying not fun,

cannot under a certain age, and

freedom of flight, and any fun whatsoever,

quickly got downed...

 

Well the one black kid, walking thru,

maybe raffle win?,

had a copter, likely beat up,

maybe stolen

and wanted batteries, 6xAA,

I had just removed mine,

thinking that leaving them in leaking

over 6 months to a year, and had 4 out,

tool kit for PCs with a small screwdriver

Phillips, needed to get into some things,

a AAA for the Pod, and found 2 more

AA from the 100 or so total ToysRUs buy

two fer the other year, still good dated

batteries, but maybe collectors items,

him not even saying thank you,

"do I owe you for the batteries?",

"have fun/enjoy" or similar,

but no thank you,

likely a jock used to getting anything

they want from old white guys,

asking and ye shall receive (sp?)

and of course

that is what you are on the planet to do,

give us stuff type thing,

creating a problem like previous

attacks, maybe security, gang, stalkers,

and

cleaning crew, and sports using

the gym next, tables and chairs

coming next, I had been tired

and wanted to go, but daisy chained

one splitter to three, and width of the plugs,

and all the little chargers, I didn't bring my

power strip, and another further along,

and logical shift right, as i told the

model airplane older guy,

bitwise multiply, and old military likely,

retirement and still in the air, i guess,

one guy had a honey do list,

i said honey, i need to fly,

honey dos go both ways,

but not really, old guys,

mostly white, but others

too, a returning fixed wing guy,

and someone told me of flying

out in South Run? park or something

and outdoor fly, of some sort,

but forgot the details, didn't record

it, and didn't write it down,

a club, NVRC? not the main one,

but another and limited places to fly,

would be nice if like Frisbee parks,

and batting cages, (might be an option

off season?) and finding places,

has relegated me to mostly bot,

land based Coder MIP and

non fly stuff, South Arlington

community centers, No Drones Zones

and other it's better in the suburbs

type stuff, local kids cannot compete,

inner city, inside the Beltway and

you cannot fly, indoor places

not allowing it, and it's really a trap,

you cannot get out of,

keeping up with the Jones in the

outlying suburbs, and come college

application times, engineering skills

with stuff you can't even have,

much less fly,

federal FAA registration for drones up

and now back down, but the social stuff is

even worse, commercial use UAV pilots

licenses, and hobbyists are left out,

and MPEG

so no go, unless giving keys

to repo and other privacy

Well the argument can be made

that geeks are disabled by design,

but some weaknesses,

i.e. being smart, may also be a strength,

geek is sheek (sp?) chic, is not really true,

it's the rich part, near as i can tell...

I wouldn't know, but white privilege

and First World Problems,

all make the need for a

Dear Black People type writing in the

near future...

Tasteless and reactionary, true,

but there you have it,

Yes, you probably went to high school,

and alive to speak about it,

but high school and the world now

is not what is once was,

so get over yourselves...

Or at least try...

small, and limited, but to not have

a shoot them down type response,

is just plain negligent, imnsho...
