Definition/Introduction

The term consumers is a label of someone who

1. receives,
2. and/or has received mental health services
3. and/or is generally considered to have such a condition...

Also Known As (AKA)

Other labels include survivor and ex-patient. Many people, especially with recovery, choose to not define themselves by their labels.

The pegorative terms will not generally be used here as it just perpetuates the stigma...

Contraversy

Many people consider the term consumer a politically correct PC term, where it has lost meaning from the original CSX movement of the past, in favor of a public image of a happy purchaser of services...

A much better history of the term and CSX movement could be added here...
