So some recent reports, and how it might relate to other stuff, possibly conjecture, but makes you say Hmmm, to lift from Arsenio Hall's old TV show...

Fairfax County Deaths

Having gotten through the anniversary of the Virginia Tech Shootings on the weekend, the governor made a half mast day on Saturday, and news reports trickle in on other deaths, not that Fairfax is worse, but I hear more about it... Arlington has crime reporting, now a graphical thing, but doesn't give the full story, and ArlNOW doesn't report all crimes, neither does Fairfax, but whatever...

Case 1

With no knowledge of the facts, besides the police PIO version, a disabled person went on a group home trip to a local park, and ended up dead.  No Tazer was used, according to police accounts, police were called, their service provider got involved, likely staff on site, something happened, and there is an investigation, after a death.

Case 2

A man associated with a family is transporting kids, three (3) kids, the older two (2) got delivered OK, but younger was left in the car, and likely died of heat related problems.   Kid dies, caregiver, unofficial, not charged, perhaps grief is bad enough...

Backdrop

Protection and Advocacy exists, child protective services (CPS) and human rights are supposed to exist, but stuff happens, right.

/Sarcasm

One of the reasons I don't like watching The News, even Obama on Charlie Rose talking about international, foreign affairs,and people dying like this in The States...   What he does with the last year of his Presidency, besides put Tubman on the currency, and move some old white president to the back somewhere...  By 2020...

Baltimore is another example, setting people up, and getting killed...

Last year's riots are one example, guy killed, riots afterwards, shows a black young woman as mayor, and older white guy as governor, friction even in that contrast, both somehow responsible for the death(s)...  Finger pointing likely...

How the police and others try to get something to happen, likely anonymous tips and then onlookers recording it for their kicks, and killing off others...

If "Black Lives Matter", do White Also? (tm pending)  Race doesn't matter, that was the platform for the current president...

So visiting a town, say tourism and economy is good, bicycling while black/white/old/poor/baggy/whatever, and get squashed?  Ghost Bikes exist, in Dupont Circle and elsewhere, South Alexandria, DC looks for Vision Zero deaths, but not spread all the way cross the river, yet, afaict..

Recent PBS show had a Washington Post reporter doing a study, over a year, of deaths, with police involvement, and seeing, perhaps as a young black man reporting, curious why he/she/they is/are not one of them...

From that reporting, besides PBS promoting WaPo reporting, the FBI and others are now taking part of that, making sure there is oversight, I guess in many forms, of people handed/ issued badges/ shields, and trying to keep people alive, possibly by any means necessary...

Given tax situations and poverty, we pay for that collectively, and quality measures, transparency, and ideals, trickling all the way down to deaths, that might have been avoided?

Still Reaganomics, it seems, no matter the colours on top and bottom...

If green is all people care about, what difference does race make?

A social construct or just how we relate, and/or don't?

Is it racist to talk about these things?

Would it ring true if I were White?  Black?  Yellow? Brown?  Green?

Does it matter what appearance you have?

Say travelling, commuting, carrying something, and/or searched?  Was a search warrant issued?

Did they claim to be "Security" and take your stuff and/or try to?

That tool for fixing something, suddenly considered a weapon?

Or is a black man/ substitute crazy man not allowed to defend themselves because of that label?
