NitPicking2016

Introduction/Definition/etc

Nits are the egg form of Lice, so Nit Picking is getting the eggs out of your hair, etc...

Body

So itchy and odd feelings associated with BedBugs, but not sure it was that...

Looking for non harsh chemical approaches, and found a LiceComb that needs a battery (typical of stuff at pharmacies, etc, don't want to package them with batteries, and needing to buy more...) and supposedly zaps the lice and eggs...

Other variations were a house brand that was just a comb, not a zapper, and had a light, to see, but required someone else to do it for you...

The instructions mentioned some stuff:

False positives, dandruff will cause it to give bad readings...

The whiny high pitched electronical tone goes off when you encounter something...  Considered Detecting?

Guessing dandruff cuts the connection between the metal comb fingers, and stops it momentarily, until cleared...

Electrical qualities of stuff

You need dry, clean hair, other contaminates will change it's operation...

Isopropyl alcohol (do not drink) antiseptic  is mentioned for cleaning the comb...

But not the fumes are dangerous, and flammable, etc...

Someone pushing the products in the pharmacy, without being asked, nor really recognized, mentioned they can detect, but he/they had to use something else to remove them...

there was a RoboMom or similar blog entry that had a mom given one?

and liked it...

Not sure how scientific / unbiased it was, but some feedback from someone who had one...

http://therobomom.com/robi-comb-review/

so will see if that was the link where one was given a comb and reviewed it well, or not...

So many links, so little time, and sick...

Conclusion

Summary of experience or similar

Having not seen anything that looks like lice, but need a magnifier (Looking Glass?),

I think I don't have Lice, just helmet head, and dandruff...

Most of my issues are in the back of my head, where I can't see much, even with a mirror...

Electronically, I don't think it zaps much...

Not sure how much current/ voltage would be needed, but 1 AA battery isn't much power...

Needs More Power

/TimTaylor

A light to different colour might help, LEDs are cheap, red/green/ white to look, and other options might help...

Higher capacitor and the comb with alternating comb ends, electrically isolated, tipped, so that each one doesn't conduct on your skin, just what goes between...

Wonder if the size of the comb spacing makes that much difference?

Like a filter it would need to be close...

I don't normally comb my hair, so annoying to do that again, and now with such short hair, even more so..

Somewhat scraping to try to get all the areas where the alarm goes off...

Discussion

A place for feedback on the page presented

Ever had Lice?

How did you find out?

Where did you get it from?

 School?

 Family?

 Doctor?

 Neighbors?

 All Of Above?

 None of Above?

 Unknown?

What did you use?

A treatment salon?

High powered chemicals?

Does coal tar shampoo deter it?

Not mentioned on Neutragena shampoo, but wondered if it helps for that as well...

Do you think alternative treatments work?

Or are they just gimmicks to make a buck?

Under what conditions do things work?
