Introduction/Definition/etc
Adding to PrePaidCellPhonesUpGrade2016
another TracFone, this time Quad Core and more
memory/storage for $20, but it's still a prepaid TracFone,
with issues related to SafeLinkWireless support,
basically non existent, as not working with SLW...
Body
Another model of prepaid phone, available
cheaply, to use as a terminal, with free WiFi
because connect charges are too high,
and SafeLinkWireless doesn't support
it, which may be illegal, according to the
UnLocking Policy, and Regulations...
Hardware
Larger screen, Marshmallow version of
Android (the other was KitKat, and done
alphabetically, to LolliPop was between,
two version jump, which may make a difference
later on...), and didn't max out memory quickly,
like the other one(s)...
USB Power connector for charging is a little
to the right bottom, which others are in the
bottom middle, but this one the screen will
autorotate, if set up that way, and therefore,
for the software that goes to the side,
works better...
SafeLinkWireless Support
Calling SafeLinkWireless 800 number about
minutes that they said would just work,
and appear, but don't, basically lied to...
Wait, updating your account, and
kept saying that being rude, could not
understand her at first, and then she got
very articulate, while eating or something,
maybe picking a fight to try to say I was abusive,
which I wasn't, asked last four SSN,
and seemed to be someone jumping on the line,
maybe a neighbor breaking telecommunications law,
a federal one, harassing, and getting personal information,
so you can't even make a private call,
and lied to about stuff, doesn't auto send
the minutes each month, as intended,
and stated, and the phone tree system
lies and say you have to buy TracFone
minutes, when calling SLW,
(Zero to get a person instead)
so wait 15 minutes, she said,
and the minutes will appear, but didn't AGAIN
got 500 days instead, which isn't the minutes,
but have to call back, to get what was
asked for, increasing her call count (stats),
and malfeasance, (or similar?), on a federal
LifeLine contract...
Other Phones
Looking on the SafeLinkWireless which
quickly goes to the TracFone website,
and then not compatible with SafeLinkWireless,
or uncertain, having to buy a phone that
probably will not work, the packaging
conflicts, and unlocking policy different,
the copy right date on the packaging
might give an indication of stuff...
BlueTooth Etc
BlueTooth 4.0, which isn't labeled
BlueTooth Low Energy/ Smart BlueTooth,
which is needed for WowWeeToys2017
and TargettedWowWeeAccessories2017
most BlueTooth , speakers that pair with it,
cheap ones, on sale, and batteries become
an issue, quickly, some discounted headphones
only run about an hour, and charging time is
about an hour (1:1 runtime:charge time ratio),
which is, I guess the cost of using BlueTooth,
instead of wired... That was before the earbud
cushions just disappeared, so not really useful
after those fall off, disappear, as doesn't
stay in your ears, without them, afaict...
Headphones wire also needed to be an antenna,
and wireless BlueTooth doesn't do that,
so playing prerecorded from a option
memory MicroSD card to wireless
headphones might work...
One way to keep the device in a pocket,
and say ZipLock/ plastic bag during the recent
Rain / ThunderStorm, and/or not showing
your phone which someone is trying to steal
from you, etc...
Various people will demand your phone,
try to trick you into showing/ giving
your phone, which they run off with,
or other illegalities...
The minutes are probably as valuable
as the phone, on a prepaid, and free calls
by stealing your phone, but also,
dropping, getting wet, and likely becoming
obsolete quickly... Other more expensive
phones say in the $200-400+ range are
more capable, probably have 4G LTE
so they may be dumping older 4G,
like the half price $10 phones, also
don't work with SLW, and basically
used to learn on, remote control robots,
one only a single core, and slow,
but ZTE had power plug on the side,
and other features of a different
manufacturer, and sold elsewhere
too...
Price Matching
Some stores have price matching policies,
so if one store decreases it, another would
have to match that price, but doing the
research and finding the cheapest,
and then it seems you are working
for them, plus might be out of stock,
and need connectivity, time, run around
capability, etc to do that Price Matching...
Repeat Visits to Buy
Early morning shopping for food, and
some guy(s) mentioned the phone model
I ended up being told come back at 8
am but had other things to do then and
bought from another store, where they
had the rack rod unlocking key to actually
sell it to me, instead of waiting for the
next shift to come in, the whole row of
phones, mostly flip phones and the price
thing just came off the pegboard,
in order to price check it, not bending down
too much, ridicule and robbery risk,
the price/labeling was different on that,
and mixed models on the same metal
rod, so she scanned it with a price gun machine
instead of me with the printed customer kiosk
price and coupon machine, the guys came
back with cash, standing behind me,
tried getting my pin number when I bought
other stuff food, and it wasn't safe,
three guys and restocking, and they had
to purchase at another register because the
bank card chip machine and cash were sold
in different places, one of the three guys,
earlier not having enough to buy soda, or similar
and wanted my $1 coupon back,
so shopping in the night might not be safe...
Predatory shoppers and ridiculing sales
having to stock the place overnight, large
shipment, boxes outside and trying to
keep me coming back/ refuse service,
so I bought elsewhere thinking it might be gone
and the guys wanted one, thinking
they may try stealing it/ other stuff
from me, and/or just stoned out of their
minds, with the munchies, and possibly
drug dealing, said their mom gave them
the $20 bill...
Whatever, not my problem, just
up in the middle of the night worried
about the kid and the ambulance
in the park, near basketball court...
I hadn't tried this phone,
to know to get another one,
cheap phones, can't get the extra
batteries, etc having two and hobble together
something, power adapters/ wall warts
stop working quickly, and needed one,
but now need another memory card,
installed a lot of stuff and migrate them
to the memory card, load some music
on the MicroSD card too, and the
camera with the storm, watching the
stream become whitewater rapids
and wonder how many people got
lost downstream, not Agnes, flooding
but lower trail bridges overflowed,
and having to alter routes and take
other ways of getting places, which
luckily I had explored the big hill
and knew I could get there that way,
just trying to avoid big hills...
Conclusion
Summary of experience or similar
A larger screen, quad core phone,
sold by prepaid TracFone, package
labeling says it doesn't work with SLW,
but haven't tried, maybe old packaging,
and maybe other hidden issues,
but faster and newer OS version than
the others, so maybe longer
time until End Of Life (system support)
Discussion
A place for feedback on the page presented
What devices do you use to connect to WiFi?
Is BlueTooth Required?
How about making calls?
Emergency only?
What tracking devices do you use?
If you self checkout and don't scan the box
correctly, do they think you stole the box
from the store? and it won't connect?
Or has the purchasing/registering changed?
Scan the other barcode for activation?
Does DRM kill the phone connection part,
and then only do WiFi?
Booting the phone says stay in the same
location, so is that for GPS lock, or claiming
it is stolen?
Screen orientation change?
How do you deal with being lied to by customer
support?
Write them up?
File an FCC complaint?
The government monitoring agency doesn't deal with this?
Would it really be illegal not to buy some phone / data time
cards?
Why?
Why Not?
Are you a Lawyer?
Harassing lawsuits?
Or phone just mysteriously stop working, especially
when needed the most?
If by law all phones need the capability of making
emergency only calls, even without a SIM card,
is that good enough? Having a payphone nearby
just in case? Would you be well enough, in an
emergency, say a bicycle crash, to make that call?
would location be on? Could they find you by
triangulating? Is the phone charged well enough?
Is this a good enough middle range phone
as other web pages suggest?
Or are phone just status symbols of how
much you can afford and get from your
parents?
